  • Just want to say how IMPORTANT it is to go by the book

    Day six of induction, - third time on Atkins in the last ten years (both others "successful" at first). I always "fell off the wagon" before little by little by little and then would look around me and realize I was eating and drinking [B]whatever[B] I wanted. And I've realized now that that falling off the wagon had begun even when I was in induction, just by stretching the rules a little and then not losing weight, and thus not moving up the rungs and then getting bored...you know the story
    This time I am totally inspired and committed to doing a clean induction - that is to say I was : ( but once again, just by being careless and not following the book to a T I have made mistakes. I had a small amount of miso soup and the green tea I'd been drinking has caffeine in it. My vits haven't been delivered so I haven't been taking them. And most importantly I haven't been putting nutrient rich veggies in my diet, instead eating lettuce and celery and a few tomatoes here and there. I've lost 7 pounds in induction already (did by day 4 - water weight) but I am only interested in the LONG HAUL. I've got 40 pounds to lose.
    Anyway just wanted to post and say - I'm going to read the book again. As great and supportive and helpful as this board is it's easy for me to read people's interpretations and subconsciously adopt them as the rules. And I get distracted from what I'm looking up by inspirational stories and photos : )
    So anyway my point is, day 6, I'm taking time out to read the book again today and I'm going CLEAN from here on out.

    Mini goal #4 - 154 - BMI no longer overweight

        Glad to hear you know what the problems have been in the past and you are determined to do things the right way this time. Good luck to you -- don't start over on induction just go forward and make sure you're clean from here on out.

          Yep ... You found out the little secret! It works best when followed as Dr. Atkin's wrote it in DANDR 2002. Thanks for sharing your success with everyone. That is exactly what this board is about ... Paying It Forward! Congrats!

            I've always wondered why someone would try to do this way of eating without the knowledge of what to do....to me it's like walking in for your college finals and never opening a book to study then wondering why you flunked.

            Personally I want to know the why's and wherefor's before I start anything - that way I go in with the best possible advantage to succeeding. I sit and shake my head when I see people bragging about how they do Atkins "THEIR WAY" then a few days later it's that person who is boo hoo-ing about not loosing weight - jee, wonder why.

            Like I said before I'm glad you are doing the plan the correct way this time - hopefully you'll make your goal and keep the weight away from your door!!
