  • Soooo hungry..

Gah! Is this normal? First day back on and I'm kinda fighting a horrible case of the munchies. I'm drinking water. I've eaten breakfast. What is the deal?

    Breakfast-
2 eggs scrambled with 1/3 cup of cheddar cheese
    2 slices of bacon fried
2 cups of coffee (one of the cups had heavy whipping cream in it)

snack-really small serving (like a little under 1/2 cup) of sugar free jello
    1 tablespoon of cream cheese

So what's up? I mean I know I have to go through an adjustment period but sheesh..lol.

Any help in any form would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Re: Soooo hungry..

Carbs is easy energy for your body so now that you are not giving it carbs it is being lazy sending out hunger signals trying to throw you off but you are going to happily eat more protein and fat and the body will start the ketosis process and things will be normal. So the best thing to do is to eat. Stay away from treaty things - try food as much as you can.
    You're doing good.

      Re: Soooo hungry..

You are only allowed 3 to 4 ounces of cheese a day--you've already gone over with your 1/3 cup cheddar and one ounce cream cheese.

You can expect to be extra hungry the first few days--try to eat sufficient protein and fat to hold down hungar pangs and get you into ketosis faster. Some of the hunger is your body craving carbs, but as soon as you get into ketosis, you will lose the urge to eat for the sake of eating.

Keep chunks of meat or poultry in the fridge to dip in mayo or mayo-mustard mix, eat boiled eggs or deviled eggs made with mayo. Eat your veggies along with fat and you will be fine.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Lexley: As liv said just hang in there..I am just going onto week two tomorrow but i well remember the first 2 days last week..I think I munched on a lot of eggs with a little mayo on them. I just boiled up a dozen of the eggs and just going back for more..still watching the carb count but it sure helped. Nothing like a little devil egg to keep the other devil at bay
and lot so water until you start floating then go empty out and start over

Thanks! Honestly I was guessing on how much cheese. I don't have measuring tools. But yeah I'll try and watch the cheese from now on. I'm kinda addicted lol.

That's the first sign that it is probably a problem food for you--sad but true.

Ditch the caffeine and the aspartame. Caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar. A sign of unstable blood sugar is cravings, which you have. So ditch it.

As for the aspartame, it causes weight loss issues in some people. So you are better off without that too.

I too am on my first day of induction. Usually after dinner I snack on candies and had the urge to do so tonight. I never ate any but I did stick in a bit of gum. I know it is not allowed but one stick of gum is better than possibly caving into the sweets. 2g carbs. When the cravings for sugar fade in a few days though we should be fine.

Lexley if you really have to feed your sweet tooth try eating red or yellow peppers in place of the jello.

You can pick up a cheap kitchen scale at Walmart for about $5.00 and a set of measuring spoons and cups there or at a Dollar store year you. It's dangerous to not weigh your food until you get a grasp of how much things weigh - you can go over your carb limit without even trying.

You can buy 1oz pieces of cheese already cut and packaged if you check your dairy case - that's one way you'll know how much your eating.

                    Good luck to you.

Thanks for the tips! The jello was a whim and once I tasted it I remembered why I don't like jello lol. I didn't eat that much but I counted it because some of it was eaten lol.

My usual meal is a lb or so of ground beef crumbled up and undrained or 20 plus oz of unmarbled rideye.A liitle hard to get hungry after that.Weight continues to fall off although I am rathar lean already.Added benifit is increased musculature with only light body weight exercises. If hunger is an issue, then you are eating the wrong foods.BTW, I drink plenty of black coffee and it has never been a problem.

She has just restarted Induction, Phil. It's perfectly normal to be hungry in the first days, until ketosis kicks in.

And yes Melissa, you'd do yourself a big favor by giving up caffeine. Have some OTC pain medication around, in case you get withdrawal headaches. But in a few days, almost by the same time you get into ketosis, all the nasty symptoms will be gone.
