  • Guidance From Those Done With Induction

My Food and Exericise Diary is at Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal - MyFitnessPal.com
My stats are: age 41 female 5ft weighed 141 want to be 120lbs am now 138.5 but been weighing self everyday and have gone up and down the 3lbs I have lost for the whole time I have been on induction
I work retail and am NOT given 15 min breaks only 1/2hr which I get only after working a straight at least 6 hrs. I can slip away for 1-2minutes to shove salad down throat or maybe hard boiled eggs but cannot keep food with me at register nor can I have water.
Basically I am only eating Salad Vegetables cucumbers and tomatoes with meals because I do not like the others that are listed on the Induction List. I like green beans, lima beans, and carrots which I cannot have yet.

Generally I eat porkchops, bacon, eggs, hamburger (95%lean) and ribeye steak. Occasionally I eat Chicken of Sea Tuna cups for lunch (no bread of course) Since July 6th. I have only lost 3lbs. what gives??? What am I doing wrong? I know I should drink more water and do on the days I am home but as I said can only manage 240z on most work days.

I workout 3-4days a week doing Wii Boxing, WiiRunning, ThighMaster, Tricep Curls, and am adding Rowing Machine this week which is buring about 150 calories.

Hi Welcome to our ADBB family

As you said, your food intake does look a bit sparse, but as long as you are not getting too hungry all the food you are eating is on-plan for induction

It is often said that a 'normal' loss for the first 2 weeks is between 5% and 10%, so for you that would be between one and two pounds, which you have exceeded

However you probably do need to add more vegetables to get your 3 cups - green beans are on the 'other veg' list, called string beans, so you could add those!

And the first rung/level of the next (main weightloss) phase of Atkins is to add 5 net carbs more of the same veg lists, so do try and add more if you can.

I am surprised you are expected to work 6 hours without drinking any water - I thought most people accepted that we should all be drinking more water throughout the day, and most companies in UK at least provide water stations for their staff in offices. The cashiers in our local supermarkets all have a bottle of water by their sides. Maybe something needs to be said to the personnel department about this?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I agree with Elizellen - you have lost weight, and you don't have far to go, so don't worry! And it may well be worth raising the water issue with someone high up in the company, it isn't fair to expect you to work for hours without water.

Have you measured? Has the fit of your clothes changed? Over the last week, I've only lost a little, but I've definitely noticed a change in my clothes, and am working out a lot, so I put it down to increasing muscle deceiving those dastardly scales! Maybe you are the same?

LOL. Fat is our friend. If myfitnesspal shows daily caloric breakdown, you should be aiming for an average of 65% fat / 30% protein / 5% carbs.

My weight loss would slow if my fat dropped with protein rising over several days. I often found the culprit to be too much lean chicken breast and/or tuna, and not enough hamburger (the cheaper, higher fat stuff) and eggs.

Weight never seems to drop fast enough for any of us, but after falling off plan for several months and gaining weight I had hoped was gone forever, I can say that I would welcome 1-2 pounds off while eating fatty foods versus gaining weight while eating processed carbs which taste great, but leave me bloated, achy, and exhausted. Keep up the effort and you will be rewarded.
