  • Day 5

To day I am feeling good. Atkins flu seems to have gone. I have lost 6 pounds and already feel a difference in my underwear. I am drinking loads of water a day too and actually enjoying the taste. The first few days were hard and I felt sorry for myself on day 2, though I was feeling sick. Now that feeling has passed I feel happier and more possitive. This forum is great. It is so good to know that there are so many people on this WOE too. Atkins has such a bad rep that everyone thinks I am just eating sausages and rashers all day long which annoys me , but I am determind to lose more weight because of some peoples attitude.

    Re: Day 5

    Hi Mother Bear,
It's great to hear you're feeling happier and more positive. This woe (way of eating) has a way of doing that for us. It only keeps getting better and better.
Keep up the great work you're doing for yourself.
I look forward to watching your progress here.

        Re: Day 5

Wonderful for u! I on the other hand am finishing up day 5 and no weight loss! Day 1 at night I became sick, I think I was really sick, not the "Induction Flu" I popped tons of vit c and by day 3 I was fine.....I drink close to 80 ounces of water per day. I have even started lifting weights......only twice. My scale wont budge. I'm eating way better than ever and nothing not listed on Atkins.com. I'm going to continue despite this.....something has to give right? Is it unusual not to see weight loss by day 5? Some encouragment is greatly appreciated!

Welcome Mother Bear. Remember to keep away from the porridge. And it gets much easier as you progress through the OWL rungs. Keep at it, do a clean induction, and don't be discouraged by anything. Atkins works. We know what you mean about other people's comments. Difficult for them to understand that I probably eat better now than at any time since my mother used to cook for me! Good luck!

Robin: post a day's menu in the "review my menu" forum and you'll get a lot of feedback, but without knowing exactly what you're eating, it's a bit difficult to say.

            Re: Day 5

Atkins.com is not the place to see what you can eat on induction. Use the 2002 edition of his book or this site to see the induction legal foods. Good luck.

yes, I'm starting to see that. I bought the bars and have been eating them for breakfast because I'm not a big breakfast person, looks like I'm going to have to get rid of those. question: Tomato sauce, Marinara sauce, is this allowed? I see a few induction allowed menus that call for it. Thanks Tom for ur responses!!

                Re: Day 5

With all commercial sauces you need to check the list of ingredients to make sure they contain no items not allowed - like sugar, corn syrup, dextrose, HFCS, molasses, starches etc.

You might need to make your own substitutes.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
