Cholesterol questions

Hi all!
I received my blood work results and unfortunatly my Cholesterol #'s were elevated. This is the first time in my life they have been this way and obviously have to be a result of the excess weight I'm carrying.
I briefly read up on each online but would appreciate any information concerning the topic that anyone might have. Also has anyone here ever had high cholesterol and did atkins help reduce it?

Cholesterol 235
Triglycerides 241
HDL 47
LDL 140

Me personally, I just started. My mom, however, is 53 and has lost over 100 lbs. on Atkins. Her triglycerides and cholesterol went down and she's off her blood pressure meds.
