  • Fell off the wagon big time over the weekend

Well, I'm very sad to say that I fell off the wagon over the weekend and have been eating carbs non-stop ever since. If I start again, can I expect the same results for induction? I don't know what to do. I'm so mad at myself. I was on a road trip and I just lost the motivation to stay on track. Thanks to anyone who replies.

You don't need to re-do the whole two weeks of induction (and no, you would not lose the same amount again). Just go back to induction for a few days, until you get back into ketosis. Then continue on from where you left off.

Were you finished your 14-day induction? If not, you will not be able to gauge your metabolic resistance, you need a clean induction for that. You also need to update your profile...it still says 14-day induction... Best wishes,

I don't know what you lost the first time. But it is not like we can jump off the wagon - eat carbs - jump back and see plenty of weightloss every time.
But please forgive yourself and just get going again. Think about how good you will look at feel at your goal weight and this will get you there if you follow it.

Going off plan does cost us more than extra pounds. There's that little guilt factor too. Sometimes not so little. It's time for you to let it go though so you can focus on getting back on plan. No one can tell you what will happen with your loss. It's all very individual. I know I ate whatever I wanted Easter Sunday and it was awful. I went up like 9 lbs and didn't lose anything but those pounds for 2 or 3 weeks. Granted, the initial pounds gained from going off plan are water weight. I went off plan Friday, July 10th when there was a sudden, unexpected death in the family. By the time the little old ladies brought in the 3rd round of comfort food, I decided I WOULD be comforted. This went on from July 10-July 16. I was up 7 lbs. I hit Induction again last Thursday and I'm now down 8 pounds. I will tell you it's never ever worked that way for me before. There are so many things we fail to factor in. You need to know you cannot gain pounds and pounds of fat in just a few days. You will put on water weight. The good news is, it does come off relatively quickly but for it to happen, you have to restart. You can do it. We can help!! C'mon back!!

A few posts back you threatened to go back to drinking shakes...did you do that? Are you able to pinpoint what made you go off-plan?

Hi and thanks to everyone who replied. It's now Tuesday at 10 am and I haven't eaten yet as I'm totally at a loss at what I'm going to do... shakes or Atkins. I'm sure I've gained all my water weight and fat back for sure as my pants are tight now. I'm so mad at myself. Argggg.....

Be gentle with yourself and climb back ON the wagon. The dynamic of anger at yourself and frustration over your lapse will only lead you down. Pick yourself up and start again. We are all in this together and most of us have fallen off at one time or another. Recovering all starts with a decision. I hope you make a wise one for yourself.
