  • Too sick to eat

    Hi,
I'm only 2 days in and am sick as a dog! The thought of eating any kind of meat, cheese, or egg makes me feel nauseated. Also, my IBS has flaired up from the change in food, so I have had diarrhea.
    Any tips or advice?
    Thanks!

    Re: Too sick to eat

Hi, Day four here and today at lunch i had the same feeling. I knew i had to eat but i really didn't want to! So i went into the kitchen and made a shrimp salad and surprisingly my appetite perked up after the first couple bites and i had no problems finishing it.

Sorry you are feeling this way but just know that it is working! Hang in there!

When I went through induction I had diarreah but it only lasted a day or two....the not wanting to eat is a part of what we call "induction flu" -- it also only lasts a day or two. You need to eat something, even if it doesn't appeal to you -- once this "flu" passes you'll be able to eat with no problem. If you get a headache, by all means take some Tylenol or Motrin to get over it....there is no reason to suffer. Drink water to help the symptoms go away faster.

Good luck to both of you.

        Re: Too sick to eat

dont worry your body will adapt and this is one of the best diets in the world for IBS

eat lots of fat it will help you change to a fat burning metabolism faster make sure to drink lots of water too
        65% fat , 30% protein , 3-5% carbs

and since you got IBS try to keep your fiber very low like around 5-7 grams a day or lower if possible cause to high of fiber can really upset people with IBS

but you still need to eat vegetables and they got fiber so try chooseing the low carb low fiber ones and or cooking them differntly like broccoli cut the stems very close to the top im pretty sure most of the fiber is in the stems and not the top flower part also dont eat broccoli raw cook it for 2-4 mins

before atkins when i ate foods like broccoli and or greasy fatning meat i would get horrible gas all day and night long even if i ate just one bite but now i found out it was caused by TO MANY CARBS and had nothing to do with broccoli or fatning foods! i can now eat giant bowl fulls of broccoli and fatning greasy meat and get no gas what so ever

i used to have diarrhea everyday for awhile and horrible gut pains and many gut illnesses like IBS but they were all cured with in 6 months on Atkins but remember it takes time to cure my gut still hurt when ever i ate food but it slowly got better and better and hurt less and less

remember fat/meat and low carb is very good at healing your gut

also you should avoid these foods it should speed up your IBS healing alot

White and black pepper, vinegar, capers, cinnamon, Cornstarch, Corn syrup, Nutmeg, Vanilla , Ketchup, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, relish Coffee, Distilled liquor, Black Tea

heres more info to help cure IBS but im sure if you do Atkins it will cure it

          Re: Too sick to eat

Sorry to hear that you are not well! I was very sick and I had bouts of IBS the first few days and felt quite sorry for myself at one point, but by day 5 it was gone. In the morning starts my day 7 and I am feeling so much better and my bowl movements have gotten better too. Try and hang in there it does pass. Remember to drink LOTS of nice fresh water with no flavourings etc, that helps alot!

Good luck hun. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the encouragement! It helps to know that others have gone through this and it got better. I was worried, that with IBS, this diet wouldn't work out for me. But, I am looking forward to my body adjusting. Now, I'm going to try and stomach an egg!
