    .2oz of red onions
    .3oz of Green pepper
    1 oz of jicama
    1.7oz of tomato
    1.4oz of romaine lettuce
    .3oz of blue cheese
    .5oz of feta cheese

    dressing
    1 TBSP of Mayo
    1 tsp of ranch dressing

If it fit into two cups it is two cups.
you do have stuff from two different lists there though.
The onion and tomato and jicama should be measured by itself and should not be more than 1 cup
The cheese is a different story
The salad and the pepper can add up to two cups (daily consumption)

I hope that made sense. It sounds confusing when I read it.

jicama is on the first list so that is for the salad count though right?? so that means the onion and tomato is from my second list and there for that has to be subtracting from my supper veg?? I should add a little more jicama or greenpeppers to the salad part to bring it up to 2 cups then add the onion and tomato as part of the extra, the cheese is part of my daily count of cheese..

LOL now did i confuse you more.just trying to be sure and i just don't get it!!! Why couldn't he have just said eat this many OZ of combined first group..

        That's right.

I think this is what you mean: You measure your salad veggies separately from the "other" veggies. In total you said you have 2 cups. So if you measure them separately, let's say you measure 1.25 cups salad veggies and 0.75 cups of "other" veggies. Then today (or whenever you have the salad) you can have another 0.15 cups of "other" veggies and 0.75 cups of salad veggies.

Why couldn't he have just said eat this many OZ of combined first group..
Because they have very different weights. A cup of mushrooms weighs twice as much as one of lettuce.

Thanks for the jicama correction. I did not double check the list

OK I think i am getting it...
so I had 1.5 cups of 1st list veg...then I only had a .25 of a cup of the other veg..tomato and onions only made up that amount of it..so tonight I could have at least a ½ cup cauliflower and ½ cup of salad veg..(lettuce, jicama and radish)

The ist list salad would total 2 cups and the other veg would total ¾ of a cup total for the day.

LOLl are you people tired of me yet??? I just want to get it right. I know this is where I got messed up the first time..

Yeah - that is it. Strictly speaking you could have 1/2 cauliflower cup and 3/4 cup from the other list. Or you could leave that last 1/4 as a snack for later. Like a bit (1/4 cup) of pumpkin with some cream cheese

Hmmm... I think you're going by an older edition of DANDR. According to DANDR 2002 (which is the book we go by here, so all the advice is based on that), you should eat 3 cups of vegetables. So if you want to eat cauliflower and salad veggies for dinner, then you should have 3/4 cups cauliflower (measured raw) and 1/2 cup salad veggies.

I think Liv meant 1/2 cups of salad veggies and 3/4 cups of cauliflower. This thread is so confusing...

Also buddysgirl, you can have at most 3/4 cups etc., not "at least".

                    G is right.
You have 1/2 cup of salad veggie to go and 3/4 other veggie.
