  • Lime Juice?

So, I am aware that lime is not on the induction food list.... However, in looking up the nutritional information I see that the juice of 1 lime contains 7 calories and 3g of carbs.

I absolutely : ceviche.... and it's carb friendly (shrimp, little bit of onion, avocado, cilantro) but the lime worries me ;-)

Any thoughts? Just wait until AFTER induction to eat it? or is it acceptable to count now?

    Thanks!!!!

    Re: Lime Juice?

On induction, there is a "special foods category". Dr. Atkins says, "To add variety, each day you can also eat ten to twenty olives, half a small avocado, one ounce of sour cream, or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods."

    Hope that helps.

      Re: Lime Juice?

      Shannon is absolutely right.
You are allowed 3 tbls. of lemon or lime juice during Induction. You can find the "Special Catagory" foods that Shannon has posted there on page 129 DANDR
