  • Day 1 of Induction

    Hey everyone

So today is the day! For the last 4 days I've been gearing up towards this new way of eating and have slowly dropped much out of my diet. Today is the day where I feel I am ready for induction PHASE 1 LOL
Anyways, this morning I had 1 large egg scrambled with a small sausage round and a huge glass of water.....I have my meals all planned out...wondering about snacks though?!?

Wayyyy back in the day i used to be 118lbs....and now after 6 years (having a child) and just being lazy I am a whooping 160lbs on my little 5'2 frame.

My first mini goal is to hit 140 ... and than just proceed untill I am about 125 or so.

How much can I expect to loose on induction along with running on treadmill and doing some strength training as well?

How much have all of you lost on induction?

    Talk soon

HW-162/SW-152/CW-140/GW-130...and than some later if needed!

    First goal met 10lbs down
now on for the next 10

    Re: Day 1 of Induction

Good luck on your day one.
And welcome. Good for you making this change.

    How much???
Well that is so dependent on factors that none of us can predict. Age, metabolism, our bodies. It will be different for everyone. It is your journey. Embrace it.

I am your size (perfect size btw ) And I was a bit heavier when I started but I am older, have thyroid problem, did not exercise much at the time. I did not have a scale when I started but from the day I stared to weigh till the end of the 14 days it was 10 lbs. You number will be your own number.

      Re: Day 1 of Induction

Jules, Welcome to ADBB and congrats on starting Atkins!

Do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 version? If not I would recommend you get it and read it. There is so much important info in there that you'll need. Most people can lose 10% of what that have to lose in the first 2 weeks. Some it's more, some it's less.

Be sure to take your measurements. I have lost 4.4 pounds but 10 inches! They count too, and when you workout and muscle replaces fat, the scale wont reflect that right away, but the tape measure will. I promise!

If this is your first shot with Atkins my BIGGEST suggestion to you is stick it out and stay on track. I wish I would have followed that advise 4 years ago... LOL. The first time I lost like 15 pounds the first 2 weeks.. this go round I have lost only 4.4 in 1 1/2 weeks. Everyone's different and so many factors come into play that can effect your weight loss. Things like medication, hormone replacement or BC, and lets not forget TOM (time of month haha).

You will lose exactly what you should. Comparing yourself to others weight loss is a recipe for disaster...and I only say this b/c I have done that and really beat myself up over not losing as much as others.

      As for snacks:
~SF jello....make your own. Get packets of gelatin and kool-aid with out any starches in it. Lots of variety but be sure to check the packets!

      ~Cheesecake 'muffins'
      2 8oz. pks. cream cheese
      1/2 cup splenda
      2 eggs
      1/2 tsp. vanilla

Soften the cream cheese for about 40 seconds in microwave. Add the other ingredients. Beat with mixer till smooth. Pour into 12 muffin pans lined with foil cups...they seem to not stick that way.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 min. They will rise and the tops will cave back in but that's normal. I personally don't like them warm, so I let them sit overnight in the fridge. They are SO yummy.
*I got this recipe from a fantastic member ValidRouge *

      ~String Cheese
      ~Pepperoni (check ingredients)
      ~hard boiled eggs
      ~homemade deviled eggs

There are so many more, check out the recipe section. You will be so surprised at all the goodies you can make! Just be sure to count your sweeteners and no more than 3 a day

      Hope this helps!

**OH** Get a fitday account if you don't already have one. Make sure while you're on induction your ratios are 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs
*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*

Lost a total of: 15.75 inches!!

        Re: Day 1 of Induction

        Thanks Chica's!!
I do have the book, I bought it last year, and was about to start the plan until so many things got in the way and I finally just said.....Ughhh forget it. Lol BAD MOVE!!!!
Anyways, now I am ready, and have read the book cover to cover....and you are right, there is a TON of information!!!! But I am excited, i plan to stay on track and go for it 100% for the next two weeks and so forth!
If I can lose 10 inches like you jsj I would be absolutely thrilled! Im more concerned about inches than I am about weight. The number on the scale is frightening, but the measurements are down right disturbing!!! That being said, I am ready!! Lol
Thankyou for the recipes...I will check out more....So far this morning I wasn't really hungry for a snack...but im sure when Im back at work I will be!!! Lol

Again thanks for the inspiration girls!

I look forward to sharing more with you in the near future

          Re: Day 1 of Induction

Hi Jules, Great to hear that you are getting started. I'm 11 days into induction and the energy boost and general positive benefits are amazing. I'm avoiding the scale until Monday but I'd guess I'm doing okay. My only advice beginner to beginner is not to expect miracles by the third day. By day five I was feeling a big difference. And the water thing....drink a lot.
One side note, I'm not big on excercise but I've been asking my wife to walk 2.5 miles at 6am for the last week! You won't believe the energy you will feel.

Best wishes and prayers for a very positive induction.
