  • Day 5-Need Help Please

    Hello Everyone,

I am on the 5th day of induction and I am growing a little tired of just eating meat and lettuce all day every day. Are there any snacks, treats, or very quick recipes that you guys can suggest? I had the pork skins today (blah) but they werent that tasty to me (im not the biggest fan of pork). But please guys, any tips on things I can buy at the grocer to help with my (snack time) please do help me out. Thanks alot.

    Hi there,

I have done this in the past and I have lost 20 pounds. You need to excersise at least 30 minutes daily. There are no snacks if you buy something that will have carbs. Eat every three hours. You can drink one diet rite can a day(splenda). Maybe lemon juice with water and splenda. I have lost a pound a day by eating eggs, bacon, sausage, little tomate, greens, cabbage, mushrooms. When you are hungry drink water and the pork rings. This is my experience. But it works I promise.

    Good luck,

Why are you eating only meat and lettuce? There are 50-something veggies on the acceptable foods list. Unless you lost a bet, there's no need to eat only lettuce.

What meats are you eating? You can have chicken, turkey, fish, beef, pork (but I understand you don't like it), shellfish, lamb, venison. Cook them differently and play with the spices and herbs. If you flavor your food the same way, any food gets boring. I remember in the 5th grade, Mom was busy with teaching (she's a math teacher and was teaching at home at that time) and for something like 10 days in a row lunch was steamed salmon with polenta. Even today I can't stand salmon and polenta together!

There are other legal foods on the acceptable foods list. You can have eggs (they can be boiled, fried, deviled, scrambled, made into an omelet with yummy fillings), cheese (plenty of cheeses to choose from). In the Special Category Foods you also have things like 1/2 avocado or 10-20 olives.

Use sour cream, heavy cream (creams are limited, so make sure you stay within the daily limits), butter, oils, herbs, spices. Make dressings for your salads. Vary the veggies.

Some food ideas... Quiches (nutritious, easy to eat and can be made with pretty much any veggie and/or meat), deviled eggs, chicken fingers (make your own, without breading them) with mayo or some dressing, celery root chips, cheese chips, celery or cucumber sticks with cream cheese, or pepper (I like red or yellow) strips with cream cheese.

I've learned that it's definitely all about preparing different food variations. The only way it doesn't get boring is by combining ingredients. Get creative (: stuffed peppers are a good one, dice a tomato and add a tiny bit of splenda and Italian seasonings for sauce. Chicken fingers are probably my favorite... Chicken breats cut into strips, dipped in egg, then coated in Parmesan cheese for breading and fried in a little oil... AMAZINg and even better with honey mustard made by combining a little mayo, mustard, and pinch or splenda. A snack I like to have is 2 celery stalk and spread a laughing cow cheese wedge (comes in a round container.. Spreadable and yummy). If you like pumpkin an cheesecake the you'd go nuts over this recipe! 1/2 cup Libbys brand pumpkin NOT pie mix... Plain purée, 2 or 3 oz cream chess, tablespoon if butter, some cinnamon an a dash of ground cloves if you have it, a little splenda... Heat in the microwave until you can mix cream cheese... Tastes like you're cheating!! Make sure you note the carb count.

These are some ideas to set you in yor way and show you that atkins is bit boring!! Expirment and you will come up with great stuff. You have to be willing to spend a few extra minutes in the kitchen and you'll be fine! Good luck!
