    Net carbs = total carbs - fiber grams - sugar alcohols, not sugar.


    2. The four stages of the Atkins Nutritional Approach are Induction, On-Going Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance, and Maintenance.
    ANSWER: TRUE

    3. You have to eat at least 2 cups of lettuce daily during Induction.
    ANSWER: FALSE
    You have to eat at least 2 cups of the "salad vegetables" daily. The salad vegetables consist of more than lettuce. Review the Acceptable Foods List for the complete "salad" list.


    4. You don't have to exercise while you do the Atkins program.
    ANSWER: FALSE
    Exercise is a part of the Atkins Nutritional Approach. See Chapter 22 of DANDR 2002.
