  • Good and Bad?!?

    Hey everybody,

So I finished off my first 14 days and I can honestly say I have some rather mixed stats. The first 7 days were amazing I drop 13 pounds and i felt great (physically and mentally). Watching the scale get lower and lower was great motivation and the edge that you want when going into a new WOE lifestyle, But then something odd happened I started gaining it all back after the 2 weeks I have lost a total of 8 pounds, so up 5. Now 8 pounds is a great start but I'm rather confused about the scales decision to start going the wrong direction. I had an extremely clean Induction never cheated stayed away from banned foods and was extemely diciplined. i stayed in ketosis the whole time. the only thing I added which I didn't see as a banned item was Powerade Zero. No calories, No Carbs, Sodium 55mg, Potassium 35 mg. the ingrediants are as follows

Water, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Salt, Potassium Citrate, Sucralose, Sodium Citrate, Postassium Phosphate, Acesulfame Potassium, Niacinamise (Vit B3), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vit B6), Blue 1, Cyanocobalamin (vit B12).....

Sheesh I can't pronounce half of those words, anyway this is the only thing that I can think of that i added without knowing if the ingrediants are banned or not, so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

    So here's to week 3!!

I agree that can be a let down to see one weight and then another that is higher, but I think you just need to recognize an 8 pound loss in two weeks as a good thing.

When did you add the Powerade Zero? While some will argue about the Splenda (sucralose), it is not necessarily a problem as long as you stick to a limit of 3 servings of artificially sweetened drinks a day (keep in mind that the average sports drink is usually 2.5 servings!). If you didn't add it until the second week though, it could be all or part of the cause of your problems.

Alternatively, my gain weeks usually tie in to my sodium intake as a result of too many processed foods like deli meat, pepperoni, cheese and/or pork rinds. Double check your salt and artificial sugar intake and see if a change in those areas helps. In the mean time, enjoy an 8 pound overall loss and stick with it.

      Hey Eric,

I agree 8 pounds is good. I added after day 3. I think the drinks are the issue. there is 4 servings in a 32oz bottle that times 2 ....well that's 8 servings. So that would put the sodium intake to 440mg per day just on the drinks. I stopped drinking them on Saturday so we'll see how this week goes.

      Thanks for your quick response,
