  • I did everything wrong - get the book

    I'm the kind of person who starts something and then looks to see if I'm doing it correctly. I WASN'T. I made every mistake in the first week that you can make. I ate Atkins bars a couple of times because they are convenient and the box says that it is acceptable for phase one. It's not. I drank diet soda. I ate cheeses that are not ok for candida cleansing - which I am also doing. The combination of the two is really strict. I ate way too many pork skins. I drank caffeine ALL day. I still managed to lose 3 pounds - probably because I exercise alot. I craved sweets all day -probably because I was PMSing and I was hungry. But I didn't quit.

    Today is a new day and I finally got the book. I have cut out the fake sugars and am down to one half decaf cup of coffee in the morning. I am weening myself becaue I was afraid I was going to get a headache - Surprisingly, I feel great. I do have the advantage of owning an ionic foot detox machine and I am sure that is what has kept the headache away.

    I will probably do induction for an extra week to compensate for the bad first week and a half.

    The point is GET THE BOOK!

    I know what you mean by doing it all wrong! Last year when I first bought the book I read the first couple of chapters and than thought I was a pro and went about my business. A week later I realized that I was all wrong!!! I was eating wraps and triscuits along with high carb veggies! I still lost a little weight, but when I read the book a little more and found I was doing it all wrong...I became pissed off and discouraged and when I moved I packed the book into a box and just opened last week (12 months later) In the last 12 months I gained approx 20lbs
    Anyways, I have read book cover to cover now and tomorrow will be the end of week one...Im doing very well this time around! Isn't it funny how we think we know it all, when actually we need some guidance in our lives for things such as this!

      Good for you for not giving up. We all have stumbles -- get back up and stay up! Don't forget what happened - just learn from it. Good luck.

        I'm on Day 9 of Induction and I just finished the book last night. Fortunately, I found this site, printed out the food list and went by that. But reading the book helped me to understand so much more about what I was doing.

        That section on candida was very interesting...I have to re-read that again and try those suggestions. In fact there a lot of parts I want to re-read again.

        So, I agree: Read the book!

          I guess I'm kind-of the opposite. I get all my ducks in a row and make sure I know what I'm doing before I try something as scary a diet!

          I have to admit, this board saved me. My husband & I both read the book from cover to cover before we started, but I've learned so much on this board! It also gives the kind of support and accountability no paper book ever could.

          I'm glad I read the book, and will likely re-read it at some point. It helps me understand what I'm doing, how it works & why its good for me.
