  • a little inspiration to stick with it

I talked my mom into doing the two week induction phase of atkins for the first time. It hasn't been two weeks yet and shes already lost eight pounds. Today she came over and was telling me how the people at work have really noticed that she has been losing weight. Several have said that theres a glow about her. I have to admit that she does look radiant. Her face is glowing and I think it has a lot to do with atkins. When I'm on atkins, my skin clears up and becomes soft. So lets motivate eachother! What does atkins do for you?

I've had dry rough cracked skin for years.....as long as I can remember actually. Since I've been on Atkins (and drinking water) my skin is much silkier, my elbows aren't black (yuck - I know) and rough and my feet don't have the deep cracks in them.

I also haven't had any hives in a long time and panic attacks have been pretty much non-existent.

      1. Completely cured my life-long asthma
      2. I always had thin, brittle nails that peeled and cracked so they were never long. I now have long, strong nails and can't remember the last time one broke.
      3. My acid reflux, which I took 160 mg of Nexium for every day and still had, is gone and I no longer take any meds for it.
      4. My skin is clear and my rough, cracked heels are as smooth as a baby's bottom.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Its amazing what changing how you eat can do for a person! I've also noticed that my moods are much better now. I am far more patient with my kids, energetic, and a lot happier.

Atkins has smoothed the dry ruff patches on my knees and elbows and made the dark patches lighter, It has cured my over active bladder. Before starting Atkins, I used to use the bathroom 10-12x a day (#1 in case u were wondering) and even though Im drinking ALOT more water now, I only go 2-3x and Im sooooooo relieved not to have 2 use the bathroom everywhere I go or be worried if there is a toilet around!

Skin is the big thing for me too. My skin looks great, and I've had horrid acne since I was 13. I'm almost 35 now.

And, like BeanPole said, I'm much more patient with my kids and have more energy to be fun!

Dry skin for me too...especially my feet. In fact, I think when I hit my next mini-goal, I'll go get a pedicure without being embarrassed! Also my heartburn is COMPLETELY gone! Amazing.

              (And great thread, BTW!)

I just remembered (after reading Norman's posts in What's for Dinner?)...one of the best things for me personally is that I'm cooking now! I may not be great (yet!) but I'm learning, and the family and I will be so much better off for it in the end! Before Atkins, everything came out of a box or the freezer.
