  • Eggs and Tracker ? Newbie

    Hi,
    Today is my first day on Induction and I have so many questions. I feel bad that I have spent so much time on the computer today reading about the plan when I should have been doing more activity. But I am trying to learn so much. Anyway...
    Question one --- The Atkins site says eggs are .6 grams, and my egg container says 1 gram. Anyway, do I have to count the carbs for the eggs I eat and include it in my daily total of carbs?

    Question two -- I entered my info on the tracker page and saved it, but it does not appear when I post. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    The Atkins website does not go by the same version of the plan as we do here. They changed the plan to allow the products that they sell. We go by the last version published while Dr. Atkins was alive: Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition (DANDR). It is very helpful to read the book.

    Yes, you need to count the carbs in eggs. Generally we count .6 carbs / egg. You need to get at least 1/2 your daily carbs from vegetables.

    I don't understand your question about the tracker page.

      Thanks Julie,
      I was just a little confused about about how to count the carbs.
      My tracker question, I guess I should have called it the weight tracker, or I think it is really called the "ticker." I enter my info and save rowhatever it says to do, but it does not show up in my posts.

        at the bottom of the tracker page you should find codes to use -- cut/paste the bb code - it should look something like this [IMG] tracker information stuff [IMG] -- copy from the word [IMG] to the last where it says [IMG].

        At the top of this page in the blue section it says User CP - click there. On the left hand side it will say Edit Signature - click on that and paste that bb code in the box at the bottom that says "edit signature" - click on save signature at the bottom and when you go back to look at your last post the ticker should be there.

            Ok, I was directed to links above and they refer to the Atkins website, yet the post said not to use the Atkins website, bit to follow the changed program as in the Diet Revolution, so now I am a little confused. Also, I had the book, but I think one of my sons borrowed it, so I was going to buy another copy tomorrow.
            The book store website shows 2 books:

            Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution 2002

            Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution: Revised and Improved 2001

            This is also confusing, the revised and improved New Diet Revolution came out before the New Diet Revolution? Which am I to purchase?


            And the more I am reading today on the websites and forums, the more I am confused, my head is spinning. Am I to stay under 20 g of carbs, with 1/2 being from the 2 veggie lists? Is there a minimum # per day?

              I am not sure what links you are talking about. Was this some body who posted links or are they permanent board links.I know we have lost of them somewhere

                Actually I think the link was a response to a question on a different subject from Carol. She very kindly answered another question. I will go get the book tomorrow, so that I don't have to search any incorrect info from other websites and get it right! Thanks to all for your help.

                    It is very confusing! It took me quite a while to find which DANDR 2002 we were using. I first clicked on the "Buy the Book" link in the upper right tool bar on ADBB. That points to a 2001 version with a cover I have never seen. I don't even remember where I read on here that we need the red cover version. I clicked on the red book version in the scrolling Amazon thingie at the bottom of this site and ordered that. The book I received from Amazon has a white cover but the same ISBN as the red book.

                      Ok, just came back from the book store. When I reserved the book online at Border's it had a red cover, just like people here, and a few people on another thread told me it should be. When I picked it up, it was a different cover, but had the same ISBN # as the red one did on the website. My cover does not look like any of the ones I saw on another thread.
                      It also says originally published in 1992, and then it says First Quill edition published 2002. It has 540 pages. Do I have the correct one?

                      When I go to "buy the book" above, on this website, the cover does not match, but you can preview the book, and it has the same # of pages, and the index matches, so I hope this is the correct one.

                        Mine has a white cover with blue print on the front. I believe that one of them is larger-print than the other, but they have the exact same things on the exact same pages (just bigger)

                          Yes, the book is mostly white, the words "new diet" are on a dark blue background, and there is a red strip on the bottom of the cover over which it says Robert C Atkins MD.

                          What guide do you refer to most often for carb counting?

                            Sounds like the same book (mine is out on loan, so I can't compare).

                            I use fitday.com to count carbs (etc).
