Net Carbs are Total Carbs - Fibre. In the States & Canada, they are listed on food labels as
Carbohydrates x
.Fibre y
.Sugars z
.Sugar Alcohols ...
since Fibre & Sugars are considered sub-categories of Carbs. In the example label above, Net Carbs = x-y.
Basically, Fibre is a carb, but it doesn't really get digested and doesn't affect blood sugar, so we don't count it on Atkins
