  • Just cant get motivated!!!

Well I finish my Induction this past Saturday. 10lbs gone woo hoo ! I was feeling really good about it. And also the fact that I had a clean Induction.

Well Monday was my Birthday and well didn't do so well didn't do so bad.

I don't know what to do to get motivated. I think I lost it, because there were a few things that lowered my spirit. First I lost 10lbs but no inches. So I got all down on myself and was afraid it was just water weight. Then I was raving about how I am working out.Probably the wrong person. He was so negative and told me I was doing it all wrong. I am not one to be easly pulled down. I know how much I never worked out and I said to my defense " There will be a time when working out will come alot easier". I dont know I guess I just need to vent and get with the program and keep dropping those ugly pounds.WISH ME LUCK!!!!

    Re: Just cant get motivated!!!

Start over today - make a promise to yourself that you will continue to follow the plan the way it's written - that means the food, the exercise and water. You lost 10 pounds - whoo hooo for you!!! Not everyone starts loosing inches day 1 so let up on yourself and stay focused.

Everyone has rocky times, you just need to find what keeps you on track - it doesn't matter what someone else does - it has to be what keept YOU focused.

    Good luck!!

Congrats on your initial 10#s! Not sure what measurements you are taking...I use the categories in FitDay for a good overall recording of shrinkage. But during Induction I noticed shrinkage in a lot of places that you don't measure like my feet got skinnier (yeah, who cares but at least my shoes aren't looking like they are going to burst off my feet! ) and my rings got a little looser. So your body looses girth in all sorts of places and at different rates so don't get discouraged.

About your male friend with the comments about your working out. This is for him----> Mr. Ski occasionally makes a comment about how I don't look anything like how the people on the fitness DVDs look. They can jump higher, bend more, twist in Gumby-like positions, etc. etc. I am the Sta-Puffed Marshmallow woman in motion...and yeah, I can't do the stuff that well yet. And you know what, I don't care...I'll get there eventually. Mr. Ski gets THE LOOK and I continue on. There will always be some kind of comment from the peanut gallery...don't let it get you down.

Sounds like you're off to a good start and I wish you luck on your weight loss journey.

      p.s. Happy Belated Birthday!

Girl, yes you can do it!!!! We're in this together, remember? Today is my "last official day of the 14 day induction" but I'm going to keep on going with the induction (being I have so far to go). I was bummed that I lost 10 lbs the first week and nothing the second but you know what? Unless you only plan on living a couple of weeks, then a new way of LIFE can't be decided victorious or a failure by the measure of a couple weeks (Is there an echo in here...I JUST had this conversation with myself, haha). Let's just keep at it and don't let anyone tell you that you aren't doing what's best for YOU. If you enjoy working out at the level you are, then keep it up and good for you! We can do this and let's not give anyone the power to tell us we can't!

Thanks Friend!! Have you used Fit day? I am having trouble trying to get into the 65/35/5 zone. That's 65%Fat 35% protein and 5% carb. I am trying to schedule my meals ahead of time so I know exactly how many carbs I am taking in it is just not balancing. hmmm!!

                Re: Just cant get motivated!!!

I learned during early Atkins that I had to do this for myself and not count on others to appreciate the strides I was making. After all, for years I gained and lost, gained and lost and for many I know they thought ... another diet! Anyway, when I need motivation now, I look for it in people who are my "go to" people ... people at the gym where I work out, people at the pool, some of my family.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Every bit counts and before long, your pants will be looser and you will be glad that you didn't get derailed!

What do your percentages look like? I put mine in and I'm right on target for the percents...within a percent or two anyhow...63/33/4. I was sort of surprised. It's a neat website. I'll probably keep using it.

Where did you come up with those percents? Are they what we're supposed to aim for or something??

Yes, you might have lost 10 lbs of water... but you can't start losing the fat until after you lose the water, so you have gotten past the first hurdle and now it's time to start working on the second hurdle. The fat!

Now comes the day after day after day of hard work. Staying on the diet and promising yourself that the commitment that you made on day one of this diet is the most important thing in your life right now.

There is no going back... You made the decision to do this, so make yourself very happy and stick with it.

The percentages (65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs) are not written down in DANDR but are ratios that were established during a Duke's University study after analysing the suggested induction menus in DANDR.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Congratulations on your first 10 lbs! It doesn't matter if its water or fat right now, you were in the zone and forging ahead. YOU LOST 10 lbs! Do this for yourself. The exercise.. don't worry about what others think, you keep yourself moving and you'll be where YOU want to be in no time. It's hard sometimes not to take into account what others say, but it is not their personal journey, it's yours. Stop the madness and let those comments go. This is for you and only you.

I know you have what it takes to continue on. Read the threads, search in motivation and come and post often!

                          Good Morning,

I feel your pain! I restarted about a month ago and on the first week I dropped 13 pounds just to regain 5 if it back and I've been stuck there for 3 weeks until this week the scale moved down another 5 . It very difficult but have faith in yourself and know that in the long run it is worth it. I was struggling and I saw a friend whom i haven't seen in 5 years!!! She drop 80 pounds doing this and has kept it off! I blew mind mind on how georgous she looked. Keep your head up it will all be worth it.
