  • Day 3 Induction and already sick of meat and eggs

Seriously. I am on my 3rd day of induction. I've dropped 7.5lbs (wow!) but I am quite tired of meat and eggs all the time. I'm frustrated also because the amount of salad and veggies allowed is not what I'm used to (I can eat lots and lots of veggies!).

So this morning I have not eaten because the thought of eggs or bacon or omelet, ew. And more meat for lunch and supper? Ew again.

I am not sure this diet is right for me. the only diet I really ever stuck with was NoSDiet. I've had a lot going on in life that leads me to snack and binge on things like crackers, cereal, bread (It's just what's available in the house). I don't keep sweets in the house.

    What do you think?

At this point I haven't even eaten because the thought of the 'allowed' foods is pretty gross....

ETA: I have also noticed really weird breath, like sour-smelling bacon or something. I brush my teeth and it doesnt' go away

How about some smoked salmon for breakfast for a change?
Shrimps and fresh fish instead of meat?

Let me see - you've lost 7.5 lbs and you do not like the diet. I would be jumping for joy myself. But you are right it may be that this diet is not for you. We have to chose diets that we can stick with for sure.
There are other things to eat that meat and eggs. Did you try fish? Chicken? Did you try any recipes. There are plenty of interesting things you can do if you put your mind to it. So put your mind to it!!!
As for your breath - sounds like you are in ketosis. That is good. It means fat burning. The breath can be annoying but it seems to dissipate with time. Try some parsley to combat it.

Here is a good webpage to look at

I think what I'm missing here is lack of "toppings" and "sauces" that are ok.

From what I can tell, Hidden valley ranch is ok, anything 2 carbs and under is ok (net carbs?)

Definitely need to play with herbs and spices more, for sure.

I am missing the "easy" that a bowl of cereal is, as I'm a busy mom with 2 small kids and plenty of places to be.

I am also struggling with low energy. I found a multivitamin that has no iron, centrum silver.

I could hardly get through mowing the lawn today, and it's fairly small.
Thanks for listening, this has been a true challenge for me.
I'm down another half pound this afternoon! 234.5 start day, 226.5 this afternoon!

Don't forget you can have 3 tablespoon of cream per day. You make delicious sauce with some cream and spices. You can even have you green salad with some cream and herbs to change a bit from the regular dressing.

Bowl of cereal may be easy - but it makes you fat. I think the choice for me is easy.
A bit of planning and cooking a head may help you.
Have you tried making a crusless quiche . It can be made ahead and then eaten for breakfast. Some roll ups of roasts (made ahead can be good). I like Linda's White Castle pie - as something I can easily nuke when things get to crunch time.
Yes it can be hard to get into this a bit. But you have to make the effort.
You are losing well and after 14 days you can start owl and eat more veggies and have more choices.

Unfortunately, cream and milk do a total number on my stomach. And those lactaid pills make it much more severe. So cream has to be out

I am looking at Linda's low carb menu pages and getting some ideas now.

              Thanks everyone for the support.

Also, I can't figure out if I am feeling "hungry" or thirsty or what. It's not quite nausea!

I never get sick of Bumblebee Atlantic salmon mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of mayo on top of a mixed green and baby spinach salad. For salad dressing I use EVOO and vinegar. It's quick and easy.

I found a multi-vitamin that seems to work well for me. It is distributed by a local supermarket named Publix. It is Publix 50+, I don't recall the exact name because I'm not at my primary home, but at my town house. I left the bottle over at dwelling place number 1.

So now Day 4, things are going much much better. The carbo monster was trying VERY hard to get me to change my mind! I am down another pound !! :-O I just cannot believe it!

The breath though, wugh! It's driving me crazy! But worth it I suppose!
I am looking forward to the loss of pounds, I'm enjoying the quietness of my GI tract, I mean, REALLY quiet! Very little gas, no bloating so far, and I used to get pain in my left shoulder when I bloated in my abdomen, haven't had that either.

I woke up this morning and actually felt AWAKE. I generally wish I could go back bed the entire day, I was exhausted and irritable (ok, well I'm a mom of 2 young kids and a deployed hubby to boot!). Things are looking up, I can't believe it!

                  Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Re: Day 3 Induction and already sick of meat and eggs

                    Keep up the good work!

I am starting my 7th day and the sugar cravings (or whatever I was addicted to) are pretty much gone since day 4. I eat less than I did in the first 3 days of induction because I am not hungry all the time.

So you will see it gets better and better as you progress!

For the breath: mine is different but not yucky (according to husband). I do drink over 100 ounces of water per day so that helps I think. If you have cloves in your spice rack, try chewing on some, it helps against bad breath.

                    Good luck

That's exactly how it should be! The different odor is caused by acetone (a type of ketone) and it should be similar to that of over-ripe apples.

For bad breath, brush your teeth, gums and tongue often. The chlorophyll in veggies will help too. And as Nathalie said, water, water, water.
