  • Day Three Rant

Hey ya'lll, I think the only reason I am able to stick to it at this point is re-reading the book and browsing this site when I want to give up.

I was hoping for the day three spike of energy but instead I am soo tired... and after reading about ppl losing 3 or more pounds at this point I eagerly went to the wii scale, not even a whole pound lost, 0.9 so now I am tired, discouraged and I really want to eat some carbs.

I think the world is plotting against me because my father in law decided to get rid of all the carbs in his house and kindly gave them to my family so I am staring at candy, muffins, and milk...

Then my mother decided to stop by and she was so thoughtfull she picked up my fav. candy on the way.

I am greatfull to have a family that tries to spoil me, but come on...

I gave the candy to my husband and told him to hide it. (He is starting induction in a month when his shift changes at work)

And I have been strong so far, thanks to reading diffrent post on this site. But this is harder than I expected.

When to I get that energy?

When will I see some real weight loss????

I am 90% sure I am doing it exactly by the book.

I promise I am not alway such a whiner, I am usually the upbeat one, but what can I say I really miss my caffine!

Things are well synchronized... that's (not) good.

    Welcome to ADBB!

A person who has 100 lbs to lose might lose 10 by the end of Induction. For a person who only has 30 lbs to lose, 3 lbs would mean the same. Our metabolisms are different, our reactions to foods are different.... Better don't compare your weight loss with anyone else. And if the number on the scale upsets you, better don't weigh more than once a week or at the end of Induction. Scales can be quite evil.

When to I get that energy?
Not everyone feels high on Atkins, but you are not supposed to feel tired for long. For some people the "Induction flu" is days 2-3, for others is 3-5... it depends. But you'll feel better soon.

When will I see some real weight loss????
Did you take body measurements before starting Induction? If you didn't, now's the time to do it. Lost inches are the best indicator of real weight loss (that is, FAT loss). The scale weighs water and fat alike.

I am 90% sure I am doing it exactly by the book.
For the remaining 10%, you can post your menu in the "Review My Menu" forum.

      Ditto what Georgiana said.

When it comes to this WOE, 90% sure just isn't going to cut it. Make sure you follow EVERYTHING in the book. It's written for a reason. Your fatigue will most likely go away in a few days, at most. People react differently to this. Some people get a TERRIBLE induction flu, while others don't really experience one.

Just don't give up! Think about it, you've only been following this plan for 3 days and have lost 0.9 lbs. If you go back to your old eating habits, you most likely are not going to lose, if anything, you will gain weight. I know I would much rather lose 0.9 lbs. every 3 days than gain 0.9 every 3 days! You should post your stats. Your height and weight may also have something to do with it.

Don't give in to the candy and muffins! Your body is saying it wants those foods, but YOU want weight loss. Show your body who's boss. Eat by the book, drink water and exercise. I can bet you eating those carbs won't make you feel half as good as doing the above said will! Plus you'll be much happier with the results

I agree with Georgiana...TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS. According to the scale I lost NOTHING during my second week of induction, but the tape measure told a different story. That week I lost 2" off my waist and another 2" off my hips (I'm a big girl with a lot to lose so keep that in mind as well). It was my TOM so my body was retaining water making it appear I hadn't lost anything but in reality, I was dropping quite a bit. I'm sure next week, the scale will reflect a more accurate weight loss once my body gives up all the fluid it was retaining. So, take heart, take measurements, and don't view success or failure by measure of lbs. Inches are most definitely going to give you the boost you need mentally to keep going! Good luck and keep it up!!!

Don't get discouraged! A rate of 0.9 pounds every three days translates to 10 pounds per month. That is serious weight loss! Don't compare yourself to others, just stick with it and give it time to work. In a few weeks you will be glad you did.

My Mom is moving, so she just unloaded a bunch of carb-laden food on us last week. I can definitely sympathize with you on that point. Hang in there it will get better!

Thanks, I just had a whiney moment. I am feeling better now. I just keep telling myself that it does not have to stay this strict. After induction and owl there are a lot of low carb treats I can have. If I know this is not forever it helps.

BTW I am 140lbs and I have twenty to lose in order to be five pounds more than I was ten years ago and before three kids. I am 5'2 so I think that would be a healthy weight for me.

How do you post the little ticker on the bottom of your post?
I tried but it still looked like code.

            Thanks again.

You might want to invest in a real digital scale rather than the wii scale. I don't know how accurate they are...

Since you only have 20 lbs to lose, you aren't going to see that huge drop in weight like if you weighed 100 lbs more...

The burst of energy usually starts around day 4 or 5... you should have just started ketosis on day 3... and have a funny taste in your mouth...

Some ppl carry it better. I know that I do not carry it well at all, I am like my mother it all goes to our bellies, not evenly dispersed, so I can't get away with anything.

By cousin is is the same height as me and weighs more but looks thinner b/c it is in her hips and chest... lucky duck! If I was like her I would not even worry about the extra pounds. Sigh...

By the way I did get that burst of energy, and funny taste in my mouth yesterday, so yay! Today I am hungry but I don't want to eat because nothing looks as yummy as the the pancakes I made the kids for breakfast. But for some reason it makes me happy to turn them down, because I know know that this is working. I am trying to stay off the scale till wednesday.

Good luck all of ya'll, I know we can do this...

Also reading about all the good things we can have on owl helps endure induction.

My Wii Balance Board with the pretty pink silicone skin weighs me ~5#s lighter than my very accurate digital scale. This is a known quirk documented in the Ninetendo forums. It seems to be consistent with recording losses as I weigh myself on the digital after the Wii however I've only been using the Wii Balance Board for a month so I'm not positive about it's accuracy so I depend on my digital scale for WI numbers.

Gabolai, I didn't start noticing any real changes in how I felt until a few weeks into Atkins. Could be because I'm so heavy...don't know. I still don't have any real energy bursts but I just feel better...much less sluggish.

Today I am hungry but I don't want to eat because nothing looks as yummy as the the pancakes I made the kids for breakfast.
If you really feel like pancakes, try these Induction-friendly pancakes with a little SF maple syrup. They are not bad at all. I had them a couple times when Mr. Ski was making regular pancakes. Sometimes I want to have some similar foods to his regular fare...other times I don't care at all.

Sounds like you're doing a great job so far.

Make sure that you do eat when you are hungry, and that you eat at least every 6 waking hours...also, eat breakfast! It starts your metabolism!

It sounds like you are doing well...stick with it, it does work
