  • hmmm Sumac??

    Hello everyone,

Am new to the woe, actually on day 3 of induction and doing great, except!!...... I have always loved spices and herbs so I just grabbed some sumac last night for the top of my chicken (in case you dont know sumac is sort of citrusy and spicy and sweet(ish) However, it just occured to me that sumac is technically a dried fruit before being ground so it wouldn't be allowed on induction would it? Cant find out any info on Carb count anywhere...any advice out there? Thank you.

    Nope - not induction
It is a berry (according to google) but if you are using it in 'spice quantites' like a tablespoon in a dish that makes 6 servings for example then I would suggest it would be allowed.

As for carb counts -I did a lengthy search and could find no info online. however, here is Linda's chart for spices and herbs.
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Spice Chart
Though sumac is not mentioned she does list a count for allspice which I think is made from ground berries, so maybe take the count for them?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Thanks Elizellen,

I can live without it for now but it just shows you how you have to think about things
