  • Carb Free Extremist??

So I had a really sore throat last night and opened my night stand and grabbed a Ricola I knew I had stashed in there. I got it unwrapped and was prepared to pop it in my mouth and I stopped short and gasped "oh my gosh!" My poor husband jumps up from an almost asleep state and says "What!?" and I said "I almost ate that...there's CARBS in there!!!" He looks at me, shakes his head, and goes back to sleep.

I think I might be an extremist.

Lol, I'm the same way Sarah. If I *had* to have a Ricola I suppose I would but instead I went and got sugar-free cough drops. They are pretty common, if you don't find them with the normal cough drops check if your store has a section of medicines for diabetics and they should be there

Well done though.. it shows your on the ball.. and to think a little while ago you had doubts (remember me emotionally blackmailing you!)

Its funny though, before I started induction I never looked at the nutrition lables.. Now I look at them all and am grumpy if I cant find one.. I was upset there isnt one on my vitamin supliments even!! (I was looking for hidden carbs or other nasties)

Colds have been going around here and I've been taking airborne every 4 hours. I'm sure it's got sugar in it but it really does help. Since I've been taking it my colds have really cut down. When I do get a cold I take nyquil. I have to think of my health.
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

I can relate to what you're saying as I'm in a "situation" with my Altoid-addiction. I haven't given them up totally yet but cut back a lot. I need to look for carb/sugar free mints soon. I eat the altoid and think "okay that's two carbs" hhah

I take diabetic-tussin - you can find it at Walmart. I take it because I AM a diabetic - it does have aspartame in it so be warned: Diabetic Tussin Expectorant, Liquid - 4oz

I've also taken Halls Sugar-Free cough drops: Shop online Halls Fast Relief Sugar Free Cough Drops, Honey Berry Flavor, 25 Drops / Pack, 12 Ea at AmericaRx.com

On the other hand, and slightly off topic. I find that I get sick much less often then I used to pre-atkins, so I have don't have to worry about this type of thing too much.

Funny you should mention that. My daughter brought home a cold from daycare (which is the cold I was enduring when the "ricola incident" happened) and I thought I'd be taken out for a week or so like I usually am. TWO DAYS! One day with a sore throat and the sniffles and the next day kicked out the last of the sniffles. It was a miracle. I this WOE. Even if I never lost another pound (eek!), I'd still keep eating like this because I just feel so dang good. Who woulda thunk?
