  • Seeking a fiber sage

    Hi folks,

Hope all my fellow inductees are hanging in there!

I've read the fiber supplements FAQs and am interested to know; has anyone used psyllium fiber pills? Do they provide the same kind of benefit to the Atkins program as the stir in drink ones?

While chugging big glass of "OMGTHISISGROSS" first thing in the morning does leave you wide awake, it is certainly not the best morning beverage ever. I'm using Konsyl and I'm 72 teaspoons away from getting to try a better purchase. A few days away, I know, but if the opportunity to pick something better comes along I'd like to have some good ideas in mind. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I could never swallow psyllium husks in water wihtout gagging so what I used to do was mix them with mayonnaise and add chopped celery for a tasty fibre-laden snack!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I took the psyllium husk capsules. I figured as long as they dissolved somewhere beyond my mouth and throat I could be happy with them. They worked.

I also did sprinkle them on salad dressing or tried to hide them as you might sprinkle a spice on the top of homemade soups. Also put them in omelettes and homemade pizza.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

I use the capsules, as do others on the board. They are effective, but much more expensive It would take quite a few capsules to make up a tablespoon per day (depends on the size of the capsule). I get away with 2-3 capsules per day, but I eat a lot of veggies.

I use flaxseed and make a cookie -- make sure you drink plenty of water afterward...it works very well and tastes yummie!!

I am doing the drink and it's gross. I need to stop by the health food store and get some ground flaxseed. I have whole flax but they're so small they get stuck in my teeth as I chew them... They ground flax seed is nice for making 'muffin in a minute' and other yummie things.

Have you got a coffee grinder, Liz? I use mine to grind flax (linseed) into a flour for cooking with. It only takes a few minutes.
