Hi everyone, I am so thankful for this board. I dont write often but i read it all the time even when I am not low carbing. I started the induction on mon 04/04/05 and i weighed 278 today i weigh 269 and I am really excited. I have a question about crystal light packets that you add to water. When I use those I can drink a lot and I mean a lot of water but if I dont use them I have to remind myself constantly to drink water so the question is-- is there a limit on using crystal light in my water? Some thing esle i want to share with you, Yesterday I went to a meeting at work and they had a snack table set up with lots of cup cakes and junk and I just didnt let myself look over there, if that wasnt bad enough they gave us all treat bags full of miniature candy bars(i just sat mine to the side). Then to make things worse instead of giving us a boquet of flowers they gave us boquets of candy bars(atleast 8 different kinds). I cant belive I made it through without cheating. Since I made it through that there is no way I am giving up this time! Just thought you might think that was a crazy thing to have to go through. By the way I dont work at a candy bar factory, its a senior care center.

I would say every crystal light pack would count as 1 sweetener serving and therefore you could only have 3 a day. Also only pure water counts as your water. What I do is keep a 33 oz bottle with me at all times and drink whenever there is a lull in activity, if I get up, when I sit down. Whenever I can I drink and now I drink all the time. I think what really helps is to only have water for a while so you get used to drinking it. Now I love it and choose water as my beverage of choice.

Excellent job of not cheating! :joy

Wow, good for you for passing up all that junk they were passing around. It's amazing how much we equate food with reward. The psychology of it all could have me ranting for a while! I'm not sure about the Crystal Light stuff you're talking about as I don't use it. I know here you have to watch because all of the Crystal Like powders available in my area are sweetened with aspartame, which is a no-no. We are limited to 3 servings of artificial sweeteners per day (Dr. Atkins recommended Splenda, stevia, and saccharine). We encourage to try and not use any during your two week induction period in order to help you break your cravings for such things. The water we drink should be just that. Water. We don't coun't anything towards our daily water intake that isn't just water. Some people will add a slice of cucumber for some nice flavouring or a tiny drop of lemon juice.

Wow you guys are fast, thanks for the reply. Do you think that I should start the induction over since I have been drinking crystal light?

crystal light is a no no because of the kind of sweetneer used. It can stall some people. You can start over if you want. CLEAN induction is the best way to go.

you have to get your water in everyday. it really does make a very big difference. Nothing but water counts as water. You can try adding some lemon, that might help.

if you get splenda packets from the store you can add lemon into water and a splenda pack.....it makes great lemonade.
