  • AHH!! Back to school very soon!! HELP!!

Ok so by the time its time for me to go back to school I will still by in the induction phase and as other kids who go to school now know there arent ANY healthy choice (they pretend there are but those sugar loaded drinks and fried foods arent.) So what should i do about eating? It will be kind of hard to resist but I could do it.

Should I just wait till after school to have my lunch? ( I may or may not have a lunch period, im not sure yet). they dont allow us to go off campus for lunch so thats not an option. Or should I just suck it up, wake up earlier, make my lunch and eat it there? Im so confused!

Also what would be a good option for something to take for lunch that I can make the night before or that morning and it'll still be good not warmed up and is easy to take along with me?

    Thank you,
    Francine Juliet

I would just make your own lunch, either the night before or in the morning before you leave. It isn't as hard as you might think. When I was finishing college I always brought my lunch (I had no money to buy lunch ) I wasn't on Atkins at the time but I never really wanted the greasy lunchroom food anyway.

Edit: I forgot to add that some good choices to take are things like veggies, cheeses, water. You might want to look at Linda's. She has a lot of low carb recipes that are induction friendly.

A crustless quiche would be my preference as it tastes just as good cold as hot. There are a couple of recipes that I often use in the recipes database - link in my signature.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You hit the nail on the head.....you're going to have to "suck it up" and make your lunch.

I find the best way is to take two hours on Sunday and prepare food for the week. It's the best way to arm yourself! That way you have a nice variety of things you could bring. Here are some things I would try:

          Parmesean cheese chips
food process shredded parmesean until it's powdery and spoon it into flat rounds on a cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 5 minutes or so. Great with pepperoni or other meat slices as a snack.

Cooked chicken breasts. Just season them how you like with some carb friendly seasonings and cut up into a big tupperware to eat plain or with salad.

          Parmesean asparagus. Great cold.

"sushi"...ham or other meat slices cut 1/8 inch thick at deli, spread with cream cheese, wrap and cut into slices.

Avocados. Cut in half at lunchtime, season with salt. Yummy!

Invest in a few pieces of fabulous tupperware and a lunch box/insulated bag and sit down one night a week, searching the board recipe section and come up with some recipes that you think you could do that would work. There's a lot more out there than one might think!

You can do it! Good luck!

but remember, avocadoes are not induction friendly. Save that for OWL.

Avocado is concidered a "special category" food. On induction, you're allowed 1/2 a small avocado per day. Dr. A. only said to use caution with and limit your portions of the special category foods (olives, avocado, cream, sour cream, lemon juice and lime juice) as they can be problematic for some.

Make you a ceasar type salad with romaine lettuce, parm cheese, and small amount of dressing. You can add in chicken slices, fish slices or steak slices

You really do need to just take your food. YOU CAN DO IT!
