  • A little about me the newbie

Hi all I thought that I would tell you all a little about me. I am 21 years old and have just started this atkind thing again. In september of 2003 I started atkins and was 170, and by november 2003 was down to 150 it was great, but somehow I got off the wagon. Anyways I managed to somehow over the year and a half to get down to 143. I have been in a relationship since december 2002, and am now expected to get married sometime late this summer. My boyfriend is 5'11 and has no weight problem at all, neither does his family they are all 5'0-5'5 height weight proportionate, so its a little hard me being this way. I was always thin throughout my teenage years but then was put on deprovera birth control and gaines 50 lbs over the course of 5 years. EVIL STUFF. I would not recommend depo for anyone. Anyways so now I am closer to my goal weight of 125 then I ever was before. My fiance wants me to be 125, he has actually expressed it since we first started dating, and I want to get down to 125, it would make me feel great. I am doing this for myself, 100 percent myself, b/c if I wasnt then I would have an motivation. Anyways, so I am getting married in a few short months and have some weight to lose. I am glad for this message board, and will be on here regularly. Oh and another thing, right now I dont live in the same state as my finace, we had relationship issues, but now plan on getting married again. And I am not going to move back to missouri til July, I now live in Arizona, and hardly get to see him, but I will see him next in June and want to give him a shock of a lifetime. Oh and another thing, does anyone know how to lose weight and not take weight of from my boobs??? This is a big thing I want to lose the weight, but I dont want anything to get taken off from the top of me?? Okay well I am done writing now, that is just a little about me thanks for reading this long post.
    Sincerly,

    Hello Christi :wave
Welcome back to the Atkins WOE :hug

I dont think there is any way to guarantee not losing from your bust when you do lose weight - unfortunately your body will decide where it will change shape :yikes

Maybe someone can suggest exercises to encourage the weight to go mostly from your lower body?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

      Hello Christi:
I'm glad your back. Re: Your wanted goals, stick with the plan (atkins) and you will lose weight. As far as not wanting to not lose your boob's while losing weight, i hate to say this, but when one loses weight your body does not choose where the loss comes from, it just sheds. What i'm trying to say is that you can't spot reduce. I wish we could but, we can't. You can though concentrate on having a well rounded workout program, that includes cadio, ( which will aid in reduceing your weight) and strength training to gain lean muscle mass. Don't be worried about becoming bulky b/c we women don't have enough of the male hormones that aid in hypertrophy, (increase in muscle size). With the strength training concentrate on gaining more lean muscle mass and do more chest exercises. Why should one strength train? B/c with the more lean muscle mass the more calories you burn at rest. Upper body one day, lower body the next. By building your chest up- this will work in your favor if you lose weight in your chest. At least if you lose in your chest, with the strenghth training you will gained some muscle and aided yourself in staying perky and lifted. If you do start a strength training workout be mindful that if the scale starts to increse its because of lean muscle not fat. Lean muscle weighs more than fat, but its inches that you will lose. I 'm not just pulling this out of the air, I'm a personal trainer. Good luck and stay focued.

Are you sure you want to marry this guy? My boyfriend and I have been together 3 months and I have gained 10lbs since I started seeing him because my diet and excercise is usually fueled by me looking good enough to nab a boyfriend Anyhow.. I've brought up my weight gain to him and how I was upset that I let myself go like that.. and he was very adament to point out that he loved me and would love me if I gained 40 more. BUT when I talk to him about wanting to lose weight.. he supports me and gives me suggestions.. he actually suggested me trying Atkins.. but that was just because I complained my other diet wasn't working... but never brings up my weight first or says "I want you to weigh this much" and if he ever did... he'd have one angry girlfriend!!!
