cocoa powder it a spice and we can have dried spices on induction. you can't have hot cocoa powder that has the sugars choclate flavors and milk already in it.

some folk find that cream as Dr Atkins mentioned in DANDR chapter 11 specail catagory foods my hinder their scale loss and shouldn't have it during induction.

remember to count your sweetner you consume in your clouds as a serving in your daily sweetener limits too.

Clouds are an addictive thing so be ready to remove the excess clouds from you and it will be totally up to your individual metabolism as to whether you can or can't have clouds as a part of your induction as an occaisional snack.
    Happy low carbing.

        Hi Gill :wave
Congrats on making another day on induction :clapping :clapping

Have you had the clouds before? The reason I ask is that some people cannot just have one or two of them but find they end up bingeing as they find them so delicious and more'ish :yikes

If you havent had them previously and so don't know yet how they will affect you why not just make a small batch first and see how your portion control works with them?

After you have been doing so well I'd hate for you to have to post a 'help' message in a day or so :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Let me tell everyone here about that cloud recipe.....

Last year we had a newbie who had about 10 pounds to lose and did everything to sabatoge herself by eating things not on the Foods List and by not taking any advice she was given---eventhough she posted several times a day asking for it.

Anyhow, she got a hold of the clouds recipe and made it, ate it---alot of it, still didn't lose weight---and encouraged other newbies to feed their sweet-tooth with that recipe. It was to the point that as soon as a moderator or old-timer posted to a newbie to kill the sweet-tooth, she would post a response raving about clouds and how to make them.

Needless to say, we had a few of these clouds people fall off the diet completely, we had a few of them posting "Atkins doesn't work" threads and we had a few having to detox themselves from clouds.

So....kill that sweet tooth. Don't be tempted by anyone who'll tell you it's okay to eat those things. Remember many of us are fat because we haVe lousy eating habits: we either ate the wrong things or over-ate or both.

Honestly, if you do induction and are doing it properly, you really shouldn't have a sweet tooth.

Honestly, I could LIVE on cake, ice cream, cookies, candy. I could skip "real food" altogether.

Today is day 13 and I have had only one craving, which I fixed with a Russell Stover .7 net carb peanut butter egg. Other than that, nothing. Barely hungry.

So to be totally honest, from one cake hound to another, I'd try to stick to the induction for 2 weeks. Just make a promise to yourself. If after 2 weeks you don't think it's worth it, move on. But don't sabotage yourself in the first two weeks. ha

Just pointing out there are less actual carbs in that cocoa and cream, or clouds than there are in a Russel Stover's. The sugar alcohols put the carb count at much higher than .7 and a lot of people find that sugar alcohol will stall them or knock them out of ketosis.

Just to add, peanut butter is not allowed during the first 2 weeks of this diet.

The sugar alcohols are an interesting group of food additives/artificial sweeteners. There is an FAQ devoted to them in the FAQ section of these forums.
