  • Feel like crap

    I’m not tired. I don’t have a migraine. I don’t have cramps nor flu-like symptoms. I'm actually pretty happy with the weight loss and being in ketosis.

    I’ve just been nauseous since yesterday and I don’ know how much longer I can take this “not knowing whether I’m going to throw up or not”. I don't want to get too graphic - I also have a lot of saliva and I can't swallow it because it makes me even more nauseous. Is this normal? Any suggestions? I've already drank my 64 oz of water and it's not helping me at all

    The excess saliva is caused by nausea and it also makes nausea worse when you swallow it.

    Did you eat something bad yesterday? If you're feeling really crappy, maybe you should see a doctor.

      Thanks Georgiana. I’m going to go lie down and see if a power nap helps. If I don’t feel better tomorrow I’ll go to the doctor ~I hadn’t really thought it could be that serious but now that you mention it, if I’m still nauseous, I’ll make an appointment.

          Hi Liv,

          I had 2 parmesan garlic chicken cutlets and a scrambled egg with mushrooms for breakfast and the ½ salad for lunch. I’m about to have dinner because I’m starving. More chicken and the rest of the salad, I think. I don’t know if this is too much or too little. Prior to Atkins, I never had breakfast and during the day I probably ate just one big meal after work (of course, dinners were carb loaded and I had chocolate and chips to get me thru the day). So in a sense I’m not only eating healthier but also more (in quantity) and more often.

          I’m still a little nauseous but I don’t have as much saliva as yesterday and earlier today. I’m thinking that maybe I should cut down the garlic . I mean, what if this is just gas? Again, don't want to get too graphic here so let me just say thanks heavens I live alone!

            I do not see a lot of fat in your diet. If you do not have fat you will lack energy for sure. Take the time to enter all your food today in FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal . It is free. It will calculate the calories for you and tell us how much of your calories come from fat, protein and carbs.

              So far energy-wise I'm ok. I wake up hyper every morning. Thanks for the link though. It will surely help me keep a better track of what I eat. I count carbs but I honestly pay no attention to fat grams and such.

                My grandma would give me lovage tea when I was feeling like that.

                  Surprisingly no, not constipated at all (after the first week). I’m feeling much better today. Nausea is gone and energy is high. I'm going to have breakfast and go for a walk before I start working.

                        I did atkins before but recently tried starting again and everytime i go into ketosis i get nausea. I went to the dr. and all she said was go to weight watchers atkins is bad, ugh.

                          That is a response from someone that has not researched or knows what Atkins is all about is going to say.

                          I guess you need to do what is best for you.

                          One thing I found when I started Ketosis was I felt sick when not taking all my vitamins.

                            I got that from my former doctor. Weight Watchers was the only diet plan she knew of and felt that you needed the weekly meetings (and the subsequent public humiliation on the scale) to be successful. I also got "Ketosis means you are sick."

                            So now I carry this card in my wallet and when anyone says Atkins is bad, I whip out my card and ask, "What's so bad about these foods?" Of course I don't get an answer and am probably not that popular because of this. Too bad...if you're going to knock something at least have some facts!



                            p.s. I fired the WW only doctor and got a new, more enlightened one.
