  • Sigh...I had a binge day today...

I still had only 16 carbs, including my 2 cups of salad, but I binged on meat & cheese, and I know my calories for the day were over 2000.

How badly have I blown it? Will my 3 1/2 lb. loss from the past 3 days be gone? (Today was day 4) I was doing so well, too! What happened is that I ended up out and about running errands all day, and left my lunch at home. I ate two *huge* cheeseburgers (no bun, no condiments other than cheese), one for lunch, and one for dinner. I'm doing ok with selecting food at home, but totally caved and didn't plan well when I was out. I guess it's just too new to me still.
    Started 8/31/09: 235.8lbs.
    9/29/09: 227.0
    10/13/09: 224.0 (yes, it's slow, but it's still happening!)
    Goal: 140 lbs. AND...
I'd like a regular bath towel to fit all the way around me.
I'd like to be able to fit into clothes bought at a regular store, not a store for "large women".
I'd like to go on the annual rafting trip with my kids, confident that if I get tossed out of the raft into the river, I'll be able to hoist my backside back in with a minimum of embarasment!

You will continue to lose weight, which is what matters in the end. Your metabolic resistance results might be a bit skewed after the first two weeks, but I don't think today will make a huge difference.

But, in the future, avoid eating cheese from fast foods. They usually use American cheese slices (the cheese food stuff), which contains whey and other Dairy Rung ingredients.

And don't forget your lunch tomorrow!

heck, that doesn't look like one of MY binge days, LOL!

if you only had 16 carbs, why do you think you've blown it?

Well, I guess because it doesn't seem "right" somehow to think that I can consume over 2000 calories, mostly from greasy cheeseburgers, and still lose weight. I guess I still feel like the whole thing is too good to be true.
In the past 4 days, I've felt better than I have in the last 15 years. I'm energetic, not groggy in the morning, able to stay up past 9 p.m. without being falling-down tired. I don't wake up in the morning with swelled up hands and feet, my wedding ring is a little loose because of it, *and I get to lose weight too?!!* Doesn't seem possible that eating cheeseburgers (yum!) like that could be the right thing. At all.

Sometimes I have 2000 calories in a day and I am still losing. Its slower, but think of it in comparison to your intake before Atkins. You will also eat less other days to make up for it.

For what it's worth, I rarely eat LESS than 2000 calories a day, usually somewhere between 2000 and 2200, one day earlier this week even 2600 - and I have lost 23 pounds since starting on July 5th, lapsing for two weeks while I had company from out of town, and then re-starting. Granted, I weigh a hefty amount, and I certainly am not TRYING to eat so much as far as calories go, nor would I necessarily recommend it... and I will happily let that calorie amount fall over time. But in the meantime, I am keeping myself plenty full (obviously, LOL!) and keep drinking lots of water.

I wouldn't be overly worried about it. Your carbs were fine, and it's one day.

As long as you eat enough to satisfy your hunger without overeating, then it's fine eating cheeseburgers. Just make sure all the ingredients are "legal".
