• Failure!

Aagh... and I was doing so well! 7 days and 8lbs down, I came back to college after easter break and spinelessly caved to the seductive temptation of toast, beer and marsbars. Yes, I'm weak. Yes, I'm lame. Yes, I feel all icky and sugary and full of carbage. Back to induction tomorrow then :sadblinky

Although... that first bite of mars bar... better than sex :yummy

Well the return to old comfort foods is always a seductive temptress. The positive thing you can do is learn from the "failure" and be more resolved to not give in the next time. In time that Mars Bar will taste like an overly sweet pile of gooey stuff that you wonder how you ever ate it. The next time you think you might be tempted remember how you are feeling now, and decide once and for all that you are doing this cheat-free for 14 days (in actuality a lifetime).

Don't start again tomorrow, start again now. This is why cheating is the kiss of death because a lot of people assume that one cheat and they are done for so they put off restarting, and keep putting it off, keep putting it off, pretty soon its been 6 months and they think atkins failed them.

Just keep going from where you left off and be aware of what is addicting for you and avoid that particular food at all costs.

You can do this!! :hug

make the next bite Atkins not tomorrow cause tomorow never comes for most folk.

File this yicky feelings from the sugars in a very easy to rememeber place and next time you are wavering recall it. Aversion therapy works great.
happy low carbing.

you may have lost one battle but never the war

you did not fail because you suceeded in recognizing how the processed crap made you feel and you wrote about it on the ADBB forum.

staying out of denial and taking accountability for what you put into your mouth takes courage - it is great progress.

of course that first bite is a big tempation. unfortunately, if you are a carb addict like me, one bite is never enough. i don't want to spend the rest of my eternity chasing the next bite. heres to freedom. give yourself a big hug and move on.

I have to agree with the others. If you start tomorrow you could be doing even more damage to all the hardwork you've been doing up til now. One cheat doesn't give anyone the license to continue eating carb-loaded food until the next day. Mistakes will happen and if you ever do feel like cheating again, remind yourself how you felt after you ate junk food and how great you felt on atkins everytime you noticed how your clothes are fitting.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, it's lovely to have support like this :hug ...I'm back on the wagon as of half an hour ago! Go me!

You're right though, having a day of cheating really re-enforces in your mind why you're doing atkins. Last night I was so lethargic and sleepy I went to bed by 10pm with an insanely bloated belly and a black cloud of guilt hanging over me. And today I noticed extra flab accumulation already! Chocolate is tasty but not that tasty...

Well that depends on which hand :yikes

a few facts

Mars bar= 36 impact carbs, 266 calories and
plays with ketosis in a bad way

Sex= 740 calories burned, 0 impact carbs

I think the latter would be better

j/k on the serious said your still here and planning on atkins and you know you fell off the wagon, chase that wagon and jump back on. There is no failure about it we all have problems every now and then. Doesn't make us failures but rather losers because we see the big picture and we are all big losers, if it makes you feel any better your not alone, keep at it!

I'll be on that wagon arm stretched out waiting to pull you back onboard!
