  • Problems with induction.

have ended week one and I have a difficult time inducing ketosis.
I am following the rules with NO cheating at all.
    Any suggestions?
    1) Am I possibly eating too much protein and not enough fats?
    2) I am only eating twice a day, should I add something for lunch?
    3) If I have high metabolic resistance, what is the most effective way to overcome it?

FYI: I am taking 1 Omega 3 a day. Pure, no carbs..

    Not on any medication.

I thank you for any suggestions.

    Regards.

How did you check for ketosis?

Could you post a few typical menus, including quantities (for everything)?

      Re: Problems with induction.

      Thanks for your replay:

Breakfast: 2 eggs sunny side up, 1 strip of bacon. I am not a bacon lover.

Lunch: 6 oz of grilled chicken.

Dinner: Cheese burger no buns, no ketchup OR Omelette with a few spinach and cheddar cheese in it OR steamed duck OR steamed pork with skin OR some roasted chicken (leg & breast).

DRINK: Bottled water, decaf tea, no coffee

SUPPLEMENTS: 1 Omega 3 (WIN brand)

I was on the diet 8 years ago lost 30 Lbs.

Ketons are measured with the Keton test sticks from the Paharmacy.

      Thanks,
      Alex

        Re: Problems with induction.

congratulations on the success you had previously with atkins!

the very first thing that i can see, and others will see too, is that you lack veggies. the only veg listed in your post is "a few spinach" which i think means just a few leaves. ???? other than that, no veggies. at least half of your carbs should be coming from veggies. you can check the induction friendly lists of veggies in your book [i'm trusting you have that handy]

are you drinking the minimum of 64 oz of water?

remember, that just because the stix don't turn color, does not mean you are not burning ketones. the stix are just a helpful tool but not necessary. if you measured yourself, you'll be able to tell the losses even if the stix never turn color or even if the scale doesn't indicate a loss.

Eating more regularly is good for your metabolism. Try to have something small for lunch if you are not hungry.
Are you losing weight? The stix are kind of not that relevant in my opinion.
