i am bingeing ... i really need help!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am bingeing ... i really need help!!!!!!!!!!

    i started atkins last month and did really well for induction then i just fell off the radar!!!!????!!!!!!!!!
    Each day i say i will start today and then i just eat till i cant breathe !!

    I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 3 months ago (ZARA) and i have a 3 year old gorgeous son (ZANE). Thats all i want and now its time to reclaim my body....i really need all the support i can get..

    Funny thing is i used to love all the bread and potatoes etc but i have gotten used to being without them after the induction BUT i have a killer sweet tooth...any ideas??????

    you have to be ready to 'just do it' and tell yourself you can. Keep pushing, every time you succeed is a step forward and every time you 'fail' is a step back. Don't punish yourself, just keep pushing forward.

      I know exactly what you mean. I used to have a sweet tooth like you wouldn't believe. Candy, cookies, anything I could find. I found once I started eating on this plan, the first few weeks were OK, then around a month in, I went through some pretty bad sugar cravings. I mean, to the point where I doubted i could make it. But every time one of those cravings came up, I would have a glass of water, and if that didn't help, I would have some celery or some cucumber, or anything induction friendly. I know what your thinking, celery is a far cry from a bowl of ice cream, but you are stronger than sugar! I had to find the guts to stay the course. And 80lbs later I am happy that i did. After about a week or so of really bad sugar cravings, they stopped.

      I hope you find the strength to keep moving towards your goal. I know you can do it. Good Luck!!!

        Sweet Toothes Unite!!!

        My issue has always been sweets and they have been my downfall each time I do Atkins. This is my final attempt at Atkins, why? Because I have found the reason for my constant failures and I think this may help you!

        I cheat. I have always cheated. I'll do great and then suddenly I'm shoving a cookie down my throat. That wouldn't be the problem if only I'd stop with that cookie, but the cookie becomes twizzlers, then chinese food, then pizza, then a pint of ice cream and each day I'll say I'll start again and I don't. What is the secret? Don't kill yourself over those cheats, and don't wait until the next day to start over.

        Have a cookie and hate yourself? Get over it. Say "Crap, I ate a cookie, I can't believe it!" Then go out, grab some water, eat a steak and keep going. In the grand scheme of things its not important that you had that cookie, whats important is that you stayed true to the diet and jumped right back in. Don't dwell on the mess up, don't wait for another day so you can justify eating everything in sight, start right then!

        Think of it this way...you may have fallen off the wagon but you only JUST fell off, you can hop right back on because its still real close. The longer you wait to jump back on the farther you'll have to run to catch up with it.

        Remember this (should have it tattooed on my hands) has helped keep me 22 days cheat free this time. You can totally do it you just have to have the right attitude about it.

            I couldn't agree more with bellajgw! Don't beat yourself up for a slip. I have found the Advantage bars a Godsend! They have really filled the gap for sweets. Good luck and don't give up!

              Bella is right... I can so relate. I too have the worlds largest sweet tooth. I can give up the bread and the beer ...but take away my caramel and other sweet nothings is pure toture.
              Be strong and if you mess up dont wait for tomorrow. Admit you screwed up and if you can SPIT IT OUT! But keep moving in the right direction...because if you wait for tomorrow, tomorrow might never come.

                Many of us here were sugar and flour junkies or any combination of the two. The best way to kill the craving is to go cold turkey. Don't try to substitute "treats". Just drink water. Lay on the floor with your babies and use them as weights. Dance with them. Show them that being healthy can be fun. Just remind yourself that you are doing this to be healthy and live long.

                Check in here at ADBB on a regular basis, too. Don't worry about how much you are losing as much as you think about what you are eating. As a regular poster and breaking through the sugar cravings and binges, you will have a lot to offer there!

                  I live across the street from a store that bakes chocolate chip cookies. I think I kept them in business.

                  The best tip I got was that sour kills the craving for sweet, so I replaced my nightly sugar "treat" with a snack of sour pickles, planned into my daily veg allowance. Pickles are just cucumbers and are totally legal, you just need to find the sugar-free ones or buy the little baby French cornichon variety.

                  It really, really worked for me, and it's worth trying!
