ok ive tried atkins in the past. first time i passed out around day 4, and i just tried it again and i was doing so well. i ate the amount of veggies/salad i was allowed, etc. followed it straight from the book and today on day 9 i passed out on my way to the college bathroom. i woke up shaking on the floor and my friend saw me and gave me orange juice to drink. so there goes induction, but the juice made me feel less shaky. i dont know what to do.. maybe atkins isnt right for me? why do i pass out after a week of no sugar? :sadblinky

this is something you need to discuss with your doctor. We could al speculate on what is the cause and cure but you need some blood tests to be sure.
Once you know the actual cause you can adjust your Atkins to correct for this.

i went to the nurse and she said most likely its hypoglycemia, which i thought..low blood sugar but i really want to continue with atkins so i did 8 days clean then the fainting spell happened and i had to drink oj and eat some carbs.
i guess i should just start from scratch tomorrow, day one. again ugh :sarcasm

You NEED to have a blood test to be certain. If you are eating by the book, you shouldn't have any blood sugar problems unless you have a pre-exsisting condition. During induction, we eat enough food on a very regular basis that passing out should never happen. In fact, that is the whole point of induction - to stabilize blood sugar. During induction, I ate plenty of protein and fat, every 2 to 3 hours. The lbs came off and I was never hungry, dizzy, etc.
This is very concerning and in your best interest, you should see a doctor.
Best of luck to you!100% Female - All Girl, all the time.

Did the nurse suggest anything you could do to help you to be able to follow Atkins without fainting?Originally posted by dizzy882i went to the nurse and she said most likely its hypoglycemia,
You should definitely fix an appointment to see your doctor and ask him/her to help you work out a way to lose weight safely :hugWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I agree with Leslie, 2Big and Elizellen...you really need to see a doctor about this.
Atkins, as leslie wrote, will stabilize your blood sugar. If done properly, it will prevent your blood sugar from dipping too low or too high.
So please see your doctor. Fainting spells just don't mean hypoglycemia. They can also mean heart problems and unless the nurse did an EKG on you, it would be very difficult for her to completely rule that possibility out.~Megs~
