When Dr. Atkins addresses this question in his book, he says something like, "There's no need to count calories". It's not that calories don't count, but when you're following the rules of induction, you don't need to worry about calories at all. But pay close attention, because there is a little bit of portion control. If you don't feel hungry, don't eat, but if you are hungry, do. He also goes over how many vegetables are okay, and how much cheese is okay, etc.... but don't worry about calories.
I'm 26 years old, and I lost weight on this plan in 2005. I'm getting married in August and thought this would be the way to go after making little progress on other diets. I've got 20 lbs to lose for the big day!

While on induction as has been said you don't really need to think about calories - just stick to the acceptable foods and count carbs instead.

But if you want to look at calories too it is quite easy.

Have you found the 'reports' section of www.fitday.com yet.

If you look at the 'Calories burned' report it will give you several figures - one of which is your 'Basal Rate' (calories needed for someon your size just to live and breathe) - there are also other figures which will vary according to what you have entered as your 'lifestyle' (how active you are at work) and 'activities' (whatever you enter for activities each day).

You ought to be eating a few hundred calories more than this Basal figure - more if you do a lot of exercise.

You could also go to one of the many sites that allow you to calculate your BMR which is the same sort of figure - perhaps do a search on 'BMR' and visit a few to get an average.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
