  • does this sound about right ?

hi guys this morning for breakfast i had 160 grams of bacon and 4 eggs, wasnt a very big meal to look at but on fitday it reckons that it equals about 1441 calories , would this b fairly accurate ? 890 calories for the bacon and 551 calories for the 4 chicken eggs , just wondering cause it sounds really high cheers muz.

How did you cook the eggs? What entry did you use in FitDay?

hi i used the ''eggs whole fried'' entry i notice theres a lot of difference in fitday with the different entrys for things that u can use i just cooked the eggs in a frypan after i cooked the bacon nuthing added also theres a fair bit of difference with things like bacon but this enrty sounded the closest '' pork cured bacon raw '' the bacon is just normal rashers from the supermarket cheers

muzza, the best way I have found to use fitday is to put the raw ingredients in yourself. For example: eggs, raw as opposed to eggs, fried. Why? Because fitday may assume you used more fat than you did so the calories go up. Or if it is another entry, say Greek Salad, they may put things in their Greek Salad that I don't put in mine and that will drive up the carbs.

If you add the ingredients individually you will get a far more accurate picture. For your brekkie, each large egg would be roughly 85 cals, then add fat if you fried them, then add your bacon-5 oz raw, after cooking or however they state it. I think there is about 29 grams to an ounce (that's an rough guess).

160 gram bacon before or after frying
If you rendered a lot of the fat off while frying - you did not eat 160 grams. Bacon is actually one of the few things I add in cooked in fitday

ok it was 160 grams of raw bacon cooked in a frypan by itself then 4 x 67 gram chicken eggs cooked in the same frypan straight away, chinadoll i used your advice and changed the eggs to raw on fitday [which actually makes perfect sense to me now thanks lol] and i saved 140 calories. now the bacon and eggs equal 1300 calories on fitday . but as im a big guy who weighs 160 kg my bmi is about 2800 calories a day apparently if i lay in bed all day , thanks for help guys

It takes awhile to get the knack of fitday and use it to your best advantage. Now if something doesn't seem right, you will know to look a little further and see if there is a more accurate way to plug things in.
