    Day 14!

    Hi Everyone,

    What a great forum.

Well I made it day 14 and it was actually pretty easy. 8 lbs in 2 weeks is great. I guess I am on to ongoing weight loss? What are the rungs - i don't remember that from the book.

    Thanks for help!

      Great start!!

In DANDR Dr Atkins talked about the climbing the 'levels' of the carbohydrate ladder in the chapter on Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) , but as most people think of ladders as having 'rungs' rather than 'levels', that is what we call them here too.

Thanks for the encouragement - it really helps

The thing that surprised me the most, was how much processed type food I was eating. With this way of eating, I am eating fresh vegetables, meat, etc. I am sure that not eating all those super-long-named ingredients/additives/preservatives is a good thing.

            Cheers!

I totally agree. I have so many in my family who are against Atkins, I have to hear all kinds of hype. My thing is that there is no way this could unhealthier than the way I was eating before Atkins. I'm getting way more veggies, portion control (because my appetite has decreased) and I feel better.

Even still, it is hard, giving up sugar is no easy feat. I was in K-mart today and I could s-m-e-l-l the sugar, I looked around to see what it was and it was candy I've never liked BUT in that moment my mouth watered and my stomach growled (no it wasn't hungry I'd just had lunch) and I had to bind those thoughts of "it's okay, go ahead, one time won't hurt you." Because I knew, one time would be the end and I probably wouldn't get back up. It's too early in the plan for that. On the way home as I was explaining it to my 19 yo, I told her, "It was as bad as a vampire smelling blood." It took THAT much self control.

Actually, it's now a smell that I find disgusting.

It's not at all "tempting" anymore.
