  • Just Started Induction Last Week NEED HELP WITH Q'S

    Im goin by the book........

    1. When they say 3 cups of the different veggies a day are the veggies measured by weight or volume? Scale:48 oz or 3 cups in cups
    2. I have lost 8.7 lbs in 6 days of induction, but last couple days weight has stayed the same, why?
    3. i checked my ketosis using ketostix and am to the second darkest color, is that good, or do i need to be in the darkest purple? If so when and how do i get there?

    Welcome ...

    #1 ... it's measured by "cups". Cup is a measurement of volume ... different vegetables will weigh different amounts ... so you can't go by 48 ounces. (a cup is 8 ounces volume).

    #2 ... that's the way it works. You won't lose every day ... or even every week.

    If you want to post a menu, along with carb counts for each item, we can take a look to see if there's an obvious problem.

    #3 ... the color of the stick isn't important. Any color signifies ketosis ... and you can be in ketosis without turning the stick any color at all. Relying on the stick to tell you you're "doing good" isn't productive. Best to spend the money on a steak!

    Make sure you're getting ALL your water (64 ounces is a minimum!). A dark color can mean you're dehydrated.

      Thanks J. i was just a little worried about the measurments and i am drinky probably over 100 oz of water a day. I plan to stay on induction for longer than two weeks, i got a lot of weight to lose and i love the induction phase cuz of the choices of food. Whats the average weight loss per week on the atkins? I have also hired a personal trainer and we do cardio and weight lifting 5 days a week. Will that speed up the process of losing a weight a little or just keep me more in shape?

        That may not be a good idea. Most of your weight should be lost on OWL. Staying on Induction too long is probably the single reason people "fall off the wagon".

        There isn't an average.

        We're all different ... we all have different bodies ... we all have different metabolisms.

        Atkins isn't a quick fix diet ... it's an eating plan for life.

        Exercise will benefit you ... it's non-negotiable with Atkins, too!

          Congratulations on those 8 plus pounds gone already! What a great start
