  • Mayo-based salad dressings?

OK, on my second week of Induction, doing well.

I have a question about salad dressings, especially ordering from a restaurant. I recall that mayo-based dressings are alright (which is funny, I don't like mayo or mayo-based foods). So...would that be Ranch and Ceasar?

I'm ready to order Chef salads, don't want to shoot myself in the foot with stoopid dressing!

    Thanks in advance.

Ranch often has sugar in it. The safest ones seem to be Ceasar, Blue Cheese and oil&vinegar. Some of us bring our own, even to restaurants

I would think that Ceasar and Blue Cheese in a restaurant would also be prone to having sugar.

I always order my dressing on the side ... mainly because I use so little.

I don't have an objection to bringing my own, but I am often in situations where eating out is "sprung" on me, and I can't carry salad dressing around everywhere I go. :P

I can do oil and vinegar, I suppose.

        Thanks!

You mean you do not have a purse with salad dressing, cheese chips, pepperoni and boiled eggs everywhere you go?

have your dressing on the side and dunk the salad into it -- if you pour it on top you'll use much more than if you dunk the salad into the dressing. I use ranch dressing, as well as caesar.

I use Blue Cheese and according to the label it is 1g carbohydrate per tablespoon. For my own salads i rarely ever use more than 2 tblsp, sometimes i even eat it raw. Asking for the dressing to be placed on the side seems like the best bet, that way you can control how much you use.
