    Day 2... What the...

Is this the famous "Atkins Flu" I hear about? I expected headaches because I am a hard core caffeine/soda addict and most of my weight problems stem from the amounts of soda and sweets I consumed. But something else very odd is going on....

I am generally a very VERY cold natured person. People at school (I'm in college) refer to me as "Linus" because I always have a blanket with me, even in plus 70 temps. Right now... I am ROASTING. Absolutely roasting! I cannot get cool enough it seems. Is this something from the diet or what? And, its actually cool out today thanks to the nasty weather we've had all week.

Is this a normal thing? Does it die down after induction?

Normal? It might be normal for you.

My "normal" thing was to have my upper arms ache.

Is it possible you have the real flu?

Did you cut down on caffeine gradually?

      Re: Day 2... What the...

No.. I quit caffeine cold turkey. I planned for it by taking 3 days off of work and school, because I knew I would have withdrawal symptoms. I've tried to "wean" myself off of sodas before and it never worked... one would turn into two, etc. I knew that just stopping would be my only real chance of getting off of them completely.

I don't have a fever, no body ache, no sneezing, sniffling, or coughing.... so I don't think I'm ACTUALLY sick. Just feel odd. Some I know is the withdrawal, wasn't sure if the extreme body heat feeling was part of that.

        It could be.

Make sure you're getting all your vegetables, all your water.

See what happens in the next few days.

I drink ice water ALL day, so I'm freezing ALL the time now. You could try that.

Hope you get through it quickly!

I recently read something about a guy who went cold turkey off of some caffenated soft drink and he had night sweats. I think it's entirely possible that your increased body heat is associated with withdrawal.

Ugh.. I cannot stand ice water. The only way I'm schlucking it down now is by drinking it room temp. I've never been a big fan of the stuff!!

Yeah, I did some reading about caffeine withdrawal and it seems that cold or hot flashes can be a symptom of withdrawal. At first my boyfriend was joking "Well, the book DOES say that it cranks up your metabolic furnace"!!!

I restarted induction a week ago and I too have been extremely hot. Seemed no matter what I was burning up! This never has happened in times past. Normally I get headaches and feel awful with induction flu. This time no headaches, no feeling awful, just burning up! I just figured that it happened alot with people.

When I went through Induction, I found I was pretty warm the first week or two. Just watch it closely. Best of luck to you!

The fact that you are normally so cold is of concern... have you had your thyroid levels checked?

My thyroid is fine. My coldness is caused due to a medical condition. I have my doctors permission to be on this WOE.

Perhaps it is the same medical condition that is causing you to feel extra hot now... ?

Popped in to my Dr. office today just to be on the safe side. After hopping on the scale he stated it was likely due to the rate at which i am losing weight. He's pretty familiar with Atkins and told me if the trend continues to go ahead and get onto OWL a little early. Mainly a blood pressure concern, as mine is generally very low.

It is good to know your Doctor is with you on this and able to advise you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
