  • Have started induction

    Hi folks,
After looking on this forum, studying DANDR etc I've started induction.
I'm on day 3 today, and have lost 3lbs already.
I feel awful some of the time (induction flu?) but I know the headaches, feeling hot, shaky etc will pass.
I'm drinking plenty of water (about 3 pints daily), sticking to the acceptable foods and using veggies as my main source of carbs.
I've also just realised that in fitday.com I hadnt subtracted the fibre from the veggies, so have probably been on 15g net carbs daily instead of 20g.
Not a problem as such, but it does mean that I can have a few more veggies (I was struggling to have enough carbs left in my allowance for evening meal veggies and couldnt figure why).

I'm in UK and have about 40lbs to lose to get back into healthy weight range.
I plan on doing induction for two weeks only, and then moving on to OWL.
As soon as I get past this 'induction flu' I hope to start using my treadmill and weights (they have been gathering dust for the past year).

I've already picked up loads of tips just from browsing this forum

hey slim - welcome to the forum! It is such a great place. My advice, get involved. There are a lot of challenges starting tomorrow out in the forum. Look under 'exercise challenges' - it really helped me get moving and my inspire you to dust off that treadmill! Push thru that flu, it will be over soon and you will feel great.

    Happy Trick or Treat Day.

          Re: Have started induction

          Thanks for the welcome

I've just made and eaten a bowl of soup from:
          broccoli
          cauliflower
          tsp garlic
          salt
          pepper
          cream
          mozzarella cheese

I used hand blender to smooth it out a bit.

It was so nice that I will make a larger amount next time and freeze some portions.

Sounds like a great soup. I make something similar and add mushrooms and parsley after smoothing it out. I like parsley. Just remember that Atkins divided veggies into two lists and most of your daily veggies should come from the salad list (not that you have to use them for salad )

Yep, I've been having mainly salad veggies every day.
I wanted to experiment with other ways to cook the broccoli etc and soup seems to work

You really need more than that ... at least 2 liters ... if not more.

I've managed to drink more today, and I feel a lot better.
I think the induction flu is on its way out.

                        Re: Have started induction

Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement.
I've been out on a 250 mile round car trip, so I made up a tuna salad and took a bottle of water.
Apart from a few hot spells and some aches, the induction flu seems to be gone.
Tomorrow I plan to start exercise, as I have a week off work.
The big test will be at the end of the week when I have friends coming to stay and I just know they will be eating all kinds of carb stuff

I am glad to hear you are feeling better now, and are planning to start exercising

As for having your friends visiting, make sure you have plenty of on-plan yummy food and snacks for yourself so you are not tempted by whatever they bring in.
