  • Am i stalling out already

I have just finished induction about 2 days ago and i realized ive stayed above the same weight for those 2 days. I keep jumping from 287 to 290 to 289 and so on between those numbers the past couple days. I want to stay on induction another two weeks. Is my body stalling out, or do i just need to give it time to adjust? And to be honest the last 3 or 4 days i did stop counting my vegetables and carbs! I didn't eat food that wasn't on the acceptable list, but i just didn't keep track of my carbs, or eat any veggies!

A stall was defined by Dr. Atkins as four consecutive weeks without weight loss or loss of inches. So you are not stalled for not losing weight in 2 days. It is unrealistic to expect daily weight loss.

You might want to read this sticky: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ot-linear.html

Why would you do that to yourself?

Counting carbs is essential on Atkins.

Wow. The answer shines right through near the end of your post. Veggies are a must. To be completely honest, you might be full of crap. Where is your fiber if you're not eating veggies? The good new is, you might unload a few pounds if you get back on plan and eat the recommended carbs, with more than half of your carbs, coming from VEGGIES!! How is your water?

Things might be slowing down a little for you. There is an adjustment time for the body to figure what the heck you're doing to it. That's normal. It's also frustrating. So, it's even more important right now to be "on it." Drink more water than you need, eat more veggies than you might want to, get some exercise and hang on, the weight will drop again.

So did you eat any vegetables or not, Rich? If you ate no veggies, then you didn't "stop counting" them; there was nothing to count. Which one is right?

Rich - I don't know about other people, but I seem to lose weight in waves. I'll lose 5-10 lbs, and then it's as though my body tries to adjust to the new weight. Couple of weeks later, I'll lose 5-10 lbs. During the time that I'm not losing weight, I do lose inches - so make sure you are doing measurements!

          Restart -10/18/2009 - 204.6 lbs (UGH!!!)
          Goal 1 - under 200 - met 10/19/2009
          Goal 2 - 190 - met 10/25/2009
          Goal 3 - 180
          Goal 4 - 170
          Goal 5 - 160
          Goal 6 - 150
          Goal 7 - 140
          Goal 8 - 135
Goal - To zip up current pants without sucking it in-10/25/09
Goal - To need a belt/roll waistband of current pants
Goal - To wear the next size down - 11/13/09
Goal - To wear the next size down - without a muffin top!! 11/18/09
Goal - To wear 'those' jeans (ya know - the ones in the back of the closet, hidden under a winter coat)

              >>i just didn't count carbs or eat nearly enough veggies>>

              Eat more vegetables.

And what everyone else said ... losing every day just isn't likely to happen.

Re: Am i stalling out already

Most folks lose more when their veggie quantities are higher. It is not uncommon for weight loss to take a week or two pause right after Induction even if you are doing everything right. Hang in there and wait it out. If you are drinking the water, eating legally, and exercising, your body will eventually get on board and start dropping the pounds again. Weight loss on Atkins can be very sporadic. It isn't linear and as cocobelle said it seems to come in waves after you leave that initial honeymoon loss period of Induction.

hey cocobell, same with me- i lose 5 lbs, dont lose for 2 days, lose 2 lbs, dont lose for 3 days, etc...it comes in waves.

You need to stick with it for at least a week to get all the crap out of your system- i knew i was good to go when i forgot all about lunch...ketosis baby!

                    rich - I also find that I may GAIN (I know - *GASP*, right?) 1/2 - 1 pound randomly - the numbers still decrease, tho. Keep with it - I think you'll be surprised!! {{HUGS}}

you also need to keep in mind that if you are exercising your body will gain muscle mass, which weighs more than fat...
