    so i went to a party lastnight, stuck to eating cheese..had a few chips..didnt have a piece of cake....but i did alot of walking yesterday so im not being too hard on myself. i didnt have a single candy bar, bag of chips etc. from the kids halloween loot
    today, strictly protein and veggies. i'll count yesterday as day one, but will extend one day if i really need to. i probably kept the carb count under 30 yesterday because i really truly didnt over induldge with the chips etc. I made a wonderful cream of mushroom soup tonight, it was delicious. my body says im in ketosis ( i had some sticks here for when i was testing urine for sugar, so once these are gone i wont buy anymore) I truly am in the right mindset for weightloss this time around. My husband is getting me the biggest loser for the Wii. I do a 30 to 40 min work out on the wii every day, it's become a family thing. my butt is so sore from the step class, and my MII is getting smaller as i lose weight lol. any recipes for sweet tooth would be appreciated. while i can normally manage the cravings, TOM is soon upon me and im craving the sugar..even though i always use splenda. i have made the mock danish a couple of times, it's pretty good. thanks for all your support, it truly is a blessing to stumble upon this forum

      I started Wednesday... it was hard watching all the candy going around my classroom on Saturday.

        It's best to kill the sweet tooth from the beginning -- I finally killed mine and have felt so much better since I did. Make sure you are under 20 carbs daily - not 30....if you haven't already read the book get a copy and read it cover to cover. The more you know the better off you'll be.

        Make sure you're only eating food on the acceptable food list - if it's not on the list you shouldn't eat it....induction is the time to get rid of food cravings and food addictions. Check the recipe sites for great things to eat.

          I'm sure they would!

          However, having them now is probably not going to help you long-term.

          It's not about the total carb count ... it's about eating what's on the Acceptable List of Induction foods.

          The title of your post ... the day you start isn't really important ... there's always going to be holidays, birthdays, "excuses" to eat something "off plan". The trick is having a plan so that you can not sabotage yourself.

          If the party was scheduled before you started Atkins, then your plan should have been to have eaten before you went. Don't go hungry. Offer to take something "on plan" so that you protect yourself from those "chips" or whatever it might be that will cause you to sabotage yourself.

          Learn from what went wrong last night so the next time you're in that situation, you don't repeat the wrong.

            Yep... I had myself a nice breakfast of cheesy eggs with bacon because I knew we were going to the movies... and buttery popcorn is my new worst enemy! If you know you are going somewhere tempting... go on a full stomach.

              i know there is always going to be something, if you read the post, im not making excuses. i am saying that i know what is on the list of acceptable foods, however i had a few chips anyway. i know that i have to remain under 20 carbs, what im saying is i stayed under 30, which isnt bad considering that i had a few chips, to make the point of i didnt have a ton of them because 10 chips could easily have put me over 50 carbs. there is always going to be soemthing, but not 2 days after starting induction. i did go on an empty stomach and there were no protein foods there, which totally sucked. i have the book, i've read the book, and i wrote about eating them and counting tomorrow as day one if need be, because i am admitting to having a few chips instead of hiding it and whining at the end that i only lost 5#. i have been 3 weeks before starting this induction living on veggies and next to no carbs, certainly no treats. what i really should have done is given myself a few days prior to starting induction. however, i did start my induction and plan on staying on it now. will let you all know how i do through induction.

                I remember Dr. Phil making a comment once about "but" (or in the case of this sentence ... "however") that the "but" negates everything you say before it.

                Yep ... you made a choice to eat chips. The "flaw" with your thinking is that it was "ok" because you kept it under X carbs. That's simply not how Atkins works (if it did, I would still be eating chocolate!).

                The time frame of "after starting induction" isn't relevant.

                Every day on Atkins there's a reason to eat "something" that we shouldn't. It's all about choices.

                  Hi Tracy.
                  My perspective on halloween is so different from yours. I am so happy to be on Atkins when it happens (this is my second atkins Halloween) I used to go crazy on sweets - not necessarily on that day but I used to buy up the half price goodies and then just super eat for weeks. It was not good. It was after doing that 2 years ago that I hit rock bottom. I was obese and I knew it was sweets. Oh well - so now I feel so much in control. I can still eat good stuff but I do not go over board any more.

                  I am glad you did pretty good. Hang in there and keep doing it.

                    what time do you stop eating at night? like right now my stomach is rumbling, but i dont know what to eat. i feel like i have the flu, and im cranky...sooooo cranky and emotional..i dont really feel like myself. is this normal?? I'm sensitive, and emotional.. not sure if it's just really bad PMS this month or a combination of everything happening at once.

                      You can stop eating anytime.

                      Sometimes I don't eat after dinner.

                      Sometimes I eat something around 9:00.

                      Have some water ... make sure it's really hunger ... and if you're hungry ... eat!

                        Because you are early in the programme you should eat. On induction you cannot go wrong by eatings. It is weird but true. So have something that has lots of fat and protein in it. I would have some left overs, or some cream cheese with pumpkin, some cheese (if there is more cheese allowance left). It will not hurt I promise. As long as it is non (or very low) carb but full fat and protein.
