  • Help me? Frustrated -Day 8

    Hello,

    I am on day 8 of induction. I have lost only 2.5 lbs and that was in the first 2 days. I did, however, start my monthly womanly visitor on Sunday, which was on day 5 so I know that has something to do with it. I have been keeping track of EVERYTHING on thedailyplate.com which gives me my carb count and everything. I am sticking to the food on the induction list. However, I have had decaff coffee 2 times. I think I may be eating a bit too much cheese, but not super execessively. I am eating salads and I have now bought some celery to add to the mix, and I am eating 3 stalks a day which is 3 carbs. I am eating ALOT so that may have something to do with it. My calorie intake is anywhere from 1400 to 2000 calories a day! Is that too much? Does the decaff coffee have anything to do with it? I don't use cream and I am counting a pack or 2 of splenda I use. Also, I am not doing any exercise, but that is because I am working 3 jobs. I am completely and utterly waterlogged, but that is good. I drink double the recommended dose of water. I am also taking vitamins. In addition I have been drinking Smooth Move tea every other night and it works wonders!!! Every morning I am doing my duty. So, not sure if that has anything to do with anything......here is a sample meal pattern: (I hope you can help me!!! 2.5 lbs in 8 days does not seem right. I am sad)

    8am
    2 eggs 1 egg white
    1.5 ounces of chedder cheese
    1 or 2 mini sausages

    12pm
    2 cups of salad
    1 tbs of ceaser dressing
    salmon or chicken
    1.5 ounces of cheese

    3pm
    string cheese (1 oz?)
    3 stalks of celery

    6pm
    2 hamburger patties
    2 oz cheddar cheese
    1.5 cups of salad

    9pm
    1 oz swiss cheese
    Smooth Move Tea with 1 or 2 splendas

    Sometimes I will drink tea in the morning. Is that OK? The no caffeine thing is KILLING me more than the carbs! I never thought I was addicted. I don't even own a coffee maker, but clearly I am.

    Any thoughts or words of wisdom. I don't want to give up, but I sort of wonder if my body and this diet are not friends.

    Help.

    Oh, and I am 31. 5'5. Started at 180 and now 176.5 I haven't done measurements.

      hi,

      i read somewhere in atkins book about starting during menstral cycle or right before. I dont want to quote it yet because i need to find it in the book. i am coming up on mine any day now, and i went up .08lbs today. are you getting carbs in sauces?

      what are in the sausages? fillers, sugars? read the label and list the ingredients

      6.5 oz of cheese, you are allowed max of 4 per day

      hamburger patties...did you make them with just hamburger meat, or did you buy them, if you bought them, what is in them? list the ingredients.

          How much? The limit is 3-4 oz... so if you track everything, then you must know for sure if you are overeating cheese.

          That's fine, in my opinion. Some low days and some high days are perfectly normal... as long as, on average, you don't undereat.

          I wouldn't think so.

          I drink double the recommended dose of water.
          64 oz is the minimum. Most people do better drinking more than that.

          You might be retaining water weight around the time of your period. That will show on the scale.

          1 or 2 mini sausages
          Did you check the ingredients in these?

          Cut on the cheese and stick to not more than 3-4 oz. Many people are stalled by too much cheese.

          Be patient.

          Don't doubt your new WoE after 8 days.

          And don't treat Atkins as a diet, in the most used sense of the word. Accept that it is your new way of eating... for life.

          Chapter 12 in Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002) will help you evaluate your weight loss results based not only on weight loss.

            Also... are over half of your net carbs coming from vegetables?

            What's "salad"? Only lettuce? I would choose to eat more nutritious vegetables too.

              THANK YOU LADIES!!!!!!!!

              I am SO excited that I can drink decaff coffee!!!

              I will absolutely look into the sausages and see what is in them. Also, I totally agree that I am eating too much cheese. It seems so easy to grab that when I am hungry. But I need to just prepare chicken strips or hamburger patties or something like that.

              Also, I am drinking tons of water and I am in Ketosis every morning when I check on the strips, so I think that is good.

              I also went back to check my logs and it looks like only about 10g of carbs are coming from my veggies. The rest from cheese and salad dressing. And the salad that I am eating is from a salad mix bag so there are a few radishes in there, as well.

              It seems logical that if I cut down on cheese, I will cut down on carbs from cheese as well. I will plan on boosting my veggie intake and cutting back on cheese and see what happens!

                What's "tons" of water in ouncese?

                And being in ketosis doesn't mean that you're doing Atkins right or that you'll lose weight.

                  i just bought turkey pepperoni sticks at costco. there are no added sugars, just turkey and a few spices...i also got preboiled eggs. these are quick foods to eat, and perfectly legal for atkins. those might help you along for quick foods
