  • Fiber VS Carbs

I bought some flax seed meal to make some bread. I was wondering if I could take it alone for some fiber too. It says 2 tbsp has 4 carbs and 4 fibers. Does the fiber take away the carb content or do I still count the carbs?

The label is "rounding" ... there are actually some carbs left, even after subtracting the fiber. We count "net" carbs.

The USDA has 1 Tbs. of flax meal at 2.02 total carbs and 1.9 grams fiber, so that's .12 net carbs per Tbs.

There's a limit of how much you should have on Induction, too.

Bread isn't allowed on induction -- you are only allowed 2 Tbsp of flaxseed daily. What recipe are you looking at?

As well as using a little ground flax seed (linseed outside USA) in substitute bread recipes you can also make buns and wraps/bread using eggs and mayo/cream cheese.
        Here are a couple http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...pes-added.html

Also Megs (not2late) suggested an alternative way of cooking the rev rolls which makes them more 'bready' in consistency, by making one egg'sworth of the basic recipe and microwaving it instead of baking it to make an individual bun.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I cut the bread into 24 small pieces and eat one piece in the morning with an egg and 16 ounces of water. I think it ends up being 2 carbs per slice but not sure. Also, I only use one tablespoon of artificial sweetener in the recipe.

          Ingredients:

          • 2 cups flax seed meal
          • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
          • 1 teaspoon salt
          • 1-2 Tablespoons sweetening power from artificial sweetener
          • 5 beaten eggs
          • 1/2 cup water
          • 1/3 cup oil

Why not calculate the net carbs of the ingredients ... then you'll know what the carbs are per slice?

I calculated the net carb for 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal to be 1 net carb. (Judging by Canada's carb labeling) So there should be 16 net carbs in the two cups. I added 1 carb per egg used (5). That should be a total of 21 net carbs in the whole loaf. I cut it into 24 pieces. That comes out to about 1 carb per slice. Better than I had originally thought.
