  • day 11-sick of eating.

    im tired. getting sick of eating... my stomach hurts, craving more veggies, but not feeling like eating them. just overall feeling blah. i think im going to add berries next week or something. i know the rungs on the ladder are suggested in a certain order, but honestly, i want some fresh berries. im sick of eggs, im sick of meat, im sick of cheese...im sick of chicken...but..i need to remind myself...IM SICK!! and to top it all off, its TOM for me. i just dont want to eat, has anyone else went through this? at the thought of eating, i get nauseous. i just brushed my teeth, and even the taste of the mint in my mouth is making me gag. im not going back to how i was eating before, goodness no, i've lost too much to go back, but this food intake is hard to keep up to.

    On another note, i was at metro picking up a prescription, and i stumbled upon Walden Farms syrups. i picked up a chocolate, and a strawberry. no carbs sugar free.. ( i know, there are carbs in everything, but that's what the big yellow letters on the front say that caught my eye)...ingredients triple filtered purrified water, strawberry flavour, natural flavours, cellulose gum, salt, sucralose, citric acid. 0 fat, 0 carbs. it's sweetened with splenda. they have a website on the bottle www.waldenfarms.com

    That's not the proper order of the carb ladder.

    Doing the OWL carb ladder however you want ... well, it's not the best idea.

      You need to focus.
      You are craving sugars - now you are calling them other nicer names right now. But you are craving sugar. Have you been good at eliminating trace sugars from your menu?
      Have you tried new recipes to make your allowed foods different and interesting for you?

      Any specific we can help you do? There are some small tricks to get over humps I am sure all of us (or at least most of us) have.
      Hang in there. I think you could be so good at this diet. Don't let your self down now.

        Where you said you need to remind yourself "I'm sick" are you referring to your flu?

        Aren't you just getting over the flu? It was the opinion of a few of us that you were not getting enough rest and doing too much. Maybe emotionally you are frustrated if you are not feeling 100%, especially with TOM on it's way? I used to get EXTREME anxiety before TOM. With what you are describing, without me knowing you personally, it sounds like a temporary frustration because you are not feeling well. Just my opinion.

          hi everyone.

          yes i was referring to the flu i have. i think you're right about just needing to kick back. i think im going to make some soup broth and live on that today. i have a thirst i cant get rid of, and im constantly drinking.. i think it might be the medicines im taking. i dont have any trace sugars in my diet, i am 100% postive about that. I'm not craving the berries, i am craving something cool and fresh..i know it's stupid, i cant's explain it. Anxiety could be contributing to it. without going into great detail about it, i was in an accident back in april, hit by a drunk driver, and i've been going for a ton of appointments, and possibly looking at shoulder surgery. yesteray i had to go talk to a psychiatrist about the accident which brought back alot of memories (insurance company requirement).. so i've got a lot of things going on in my life right now. I slept till 10:30 today. My lips are really dry this morning, so i'm thinking im dehyrated, and when i really think about it is probably water my body is craving. I'm going to get lots of liquids in me today. will check back in later and update how im feeling.

          thanks for the encouragement and putting things into perspective. that's why i love this forum, it makes me look at the situation from a different perspective instead of going for cupcake therapy!!

            I find sweet red and orange peppers are cool and fresh tasting after being in the fridge for a day or so. Also celery gives that lovely clean fresh crunchy feel too. Pepper strips or celery stalks spread with some cream cheese or paté makes a refreshing snack.

              upping your magnesium might help with the anxiety...just don't take too much or you won't leave the toilet!

                I didn't read where you were sick of vegetables....are you eating enouugh of them? Also, the Walden Farms Chocolate syrup - you are feeding the sweet tooth - you need to kill it not feed it.

                How much pure water are you drinking? When I felt I needed something sweet I drank another glass of water -- it worked! Also, induction is 2 weeks, not a few days then start adding things willy nilly. Stay the course and get through induction.

                  What about a sugar free, carb free jello with maybe a spoonful of cool whip. You are out of Induction aren't you?

                    im on day 11 of my induction. I havent even opened the sauces, i honestly dont know why i bought them, i just got excited, and now they are in my cupboard. im not feeling so bad today...i had a half chicken and some steamed veggies, and a greek salad, and i put some grape kool aid (the no sugar added kind) in a big jug with no sugar. and i drank about 100 oz today. I'm feeling not so bad today.
                    i made nanaimo bars for my friend's bday tomorrow, and not even thinking i had some of the batter on my finger and i stuck my finger in my mouth, and before i licked it off i caught myself and pulled it back out...and laughed at myself because it was just habit. I dont crave the nanaimo bars,but i always make them for her, so i wasnt going to break tradition. Anyway, the peppers and celery sound like a great suggestion, im going to go get them tomorrow. i think i got so excited with the new recipes i've found that i've been eating rich foods and now i need to get back to the basics. my husband and kids went to a burger place for supper, we were in the car going through the drive through, and i didnt get anything, instead i went to swiss chalet and got the chicken and salad.

                    night all, i stayed on course. I havent been eating or drinking enough. thanks for all the words of encouragement and getting me through the day.

                              Cool Whip isn't allowed on Atkins ... it's a true frankenfood ... and the second ingredient is sugar ... and there's trans fats!
