  • Ketosis Question...

    Ok, So i have started Atkins on Monday, doing everything by the book....no cheats, plenty of water (120 oz at least), taking vitamens, etc. I have lost 5 lbs since Monday, which is great but, I still don't feel like my body is in ketosis. I haven't been ill (induction flu) other than a headache a couple days but I believe this was due to not having caffiene. My mouth doesn't taste funny. I feel ok and I am loosing a bit of weight so maybe i'm just being paranoid for no reason. I read everyone saying on the forums that the strips were a waste of money but now i am tempted just buy some because I want to know. So i guess my question is, what are some other symptoms I might have? Should it take this long to go into ketosis? Should I buy the strips just to know?

    I really just want to make sure I am doing this correctly.

    Ahh yes, I am 28 years old, my starting weight was 319, and i am now at 314.

    It's too soon... the symptoms should hit you around the 4th or 5th day - then you will know for sure...

    My only 'flu' symptom is a headache as well...

      Not everyone has the so-called "Induction flu."

      You are losing weight! Does it really matter what the color of the sticks is or whether you "feel" you are in ketosis? Your aim is to lose weight. If you eat on plan, then you will likely be in ketosis.

      So i guess my question is, what are some other symptoms I might have?

      Should it take this long to go into ketosis?

        Hmm well today I had...

        Breakfast- Small steak and 3 eggs, all cooked in butter, spoon of flax meal, water, multi-vitamen

        Lunch - More water...Chicken breasts (skinless) cooked in butter, salad 2 cups, with cheese (1 oz) and salad dressing (sugar-free)

        Snack - More water

        Dinner - Chicken breast (Garlic/butter sauce) and 1/2 cup pumpkin, (boiled and mashed with butter and a little heavy cream, touch of vanilla) 1/2 cup cabbage

        Cup of tea(decaf) with heavy cream

        i had about 120 oz of water so far and im not done yet!

        All of my menus have been similar with the exception of a coke zero which i had on the first day, but cut that out for more water.

            AS Georgiana said, your menu looks fine and 'legal' particularly if your 'salad' is a mix of the choices on the list rather than just plain old chewy water (lettuce).
