  • week 2 almost done

Well with only a slight mixup at a casino buffet (ate 2 small sugar free desserts, had flour I think) I am just about to 339...something I wanted to be at by end of November....I was 339.6 this morning with 2 more full days of induction left. My past history tells me that I need to stick close to induction (20-30 carbs) to b successful. I miss the strawberries over cottage cheese.

Anyway, was thinking I am at about 16 pounds down....in less than two weeks. I have had success before but not like this. Yes, I know a lot is water but still.....

Guess I have nothing else to say or add or ask....just amazed and yet disappointed in myself for not sitcking with it in the past.

Made the crustless key lime pie and breadless pudding...not bad.

Congratulations on the weight you've lost!!! Sounds like you know how to make the program work for you.

Watch the deserts....starving the sweet tooth is better than continuing to feed it.

    Keep up the food work.

      Re: week 2 almost done

I struggled with believing I could stay on Atkins long term until I came to terms with the sweets and realized that Splenda and substitutes created as many cravings for me as sugar. When I had cravings for sweets, I'd have a small chunk of cheese or a slice of turkey with mayonaise and water. Over time, I didn't care about the sweets.

Congratulations on your success on Induction! Keep up the great work.

Thank you for posting that. I was wondering about long term success with products like Splenda. I react the same way - gimme more sugar! It's nice to know that those cravings will subside.

                Re: week 2 almost done

as for the sweeteners and sweet tooth. I look at it like this

I know I have a tendancy to want sweet things and sometimes get a hankering for something sweet. As long as I keep them in check with approved LC desserts I am fine because it doesn't affect me. The breadless pudding and the crustless key lime pie I made are still about 75% remaining. In the past (Halloween) they would have been gone in a day or two.

While I have dodged things sweet things, there are some natural sweet things that are low carb...berries, a little bit of melon (in the summer) and an occasional apple. What I have learned to do with each of them is create a dessert item out of them combined with protein or fat...thus reducing the insulin reaction.

Berries with cottage cheese, apple with a scoop of peanut butter, Melon with cottage cheese, or apples sauted with butter and cinnamon and topped with whipped cream (unsweetened).

The reality is that I am not going to be on induction forever. I now many people that did induction for months and lost tons of weight only to binge and gain it all back. I'd rather take an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill and have the apple with peanut butter as a reward/treat.

I am still on induction and will continue it through Thanksgiving at least so don't take this the wrong way. But if I can eat a lowcarb pumkin cheesecake instead of potatoes, stuffing and pies....I am in good shape.

Thanks for everyone's words and thoughts

Are you eating these things now ... on Induction?
