  • Exercise?

What is recommended for Induction? I have the Turbo Jam dvds and a stationary bike. So what would you guys recommend? I'm definitely a noob when it comes to exercise so I'd like to ease into it and work my way up. Hope that makes sense? Thanks!

    Re: Exercise?

Ease into it and work your way up is the way to go. Also take time over the next few months to try different things. You need to find something that you can enjoy and keep doing.
BUT set yourself a scedule right now. YOU have to do 30 minutes of exercise three times a week as a minimum starting right now. This should as much part of your routine as brushing teeth and getting dressed.
Dvd, biking, lifting, walking - all is good.
So plan your schedule now - and no excuses

      Re: Exercise?

I started with riding my stationary bike and walking....a couple weeks later I added a couple of the exercise challenges (squats and strength), I also have Billy Banks and Jillian Michaels videos I use. It's really up to you, what you like to do, what you will stick with and what challenges you.

        Re: Exercise?

AS the others have said - picking an activity that you like to do gives you the best chance of keeping it up and not getting bored of it quickly.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Re: Exercise?

You may notice I'm new to the board, but I'm well versed in exercise. Obviously there are 100's of different views however the main theme is keep it fun, basic, doable, repeatable. Here is a routine, that works great and needs no special equipment.
Its called the the body weight challenge....so you are only using your body weight to perform these. If you need some help seeing what these look like go to youtube.com and search for 100 body weight challenge, or 250 body weight challenge, etc.

          Here is the list:
10 Squats ( I personally like hindu squats, again you can look these up on youtube)
10 Pushups (you can start these on your knees, or against your counter a desk, etc)
          10 Jumps
          10 Ball Leg Curls
          10 Stepups
10 Pullups palms out (my wife does these hanging under the treadmill bar)
          10 Lunges
          10 Close Pushups
          10 Squats
          10 chinups

These are done as fast you you can with little rest....if you need it take it, for 10 - 20 seconds and keep going. When you can do these well under 10 minutes, raise the reps to the 200's, then 300's and so forth.

My DW does the the 300's in about 30 minutes, I do the 500's a couple times a week in about 34 minutes. BTW at 42, she looks fitter now, than she did when we married 18 years ago.

          Best of Luck

            Your DW can do chinups?

              Re: Exercise?

DW does chinups same way as the pullups but with palms in. So she is not hanging down, but at an angle under the treadmill.

                Re: Exercise?

I think I can visualize this. So she is laying down and just partially lifting off the floor. Interesting. Chin ups are daunting. At the gym they do have machine that does make it possible because it is easier but I am not making any headway.
You guys sound strong. Keep going

                  Re: Exercise?

Not quite lying down but at around a 45 degree angle off the floor. Doesn't quite hit the latisimuss dorsi primarily, but still hitting the rhomboids, teres major and minor. AS well as working the biceps. I must say her arms are very tone these days.

                    Re: Exercise?

Everyone is different, but walking ( at a fast pace, say 12 minutes per mile..) Works wonders for me!! I totally LOVE the WATP dvds!!! I guess as long as you are moving, meaning doing "Something", for at least 30 minutes, then that's still progress. Best wishes..
