  • Help please

    Hi there,

Been "doin the Atkins" now since Thursday and I need a bit of help in getting the fat content up in my diet.
I'm still new to this so if the questions are dumb, please excuse me

I read on the site that the "Induction ratio" should be about 5% Carb, 30% protein and 65% fat.

See "Myfit Info" in my Signature for the last two days info on my meals, where I'm going wrong?
Please give this South African Chubby Fella a few tips

Thanks for all the helpful reading on this site, it's amazing indeed

    Cheers,
    Stuart

More mayo and slather butter on your veggies. I didn't see any salad dressing in there. Fry your eggs in butter. Let me know how the ratio adjusts when you do that.

      Re: Help please

That particular day you had a pound + of fish. Fish is a lean protein with very little fat. If you had eaten pork or beef your ratios would have been much more in line. Don't worry about it. Add fats in dressings and frying and use smaller protein portions initially.

I would suggest that rather than eat 18 ounces of any protein all at once, break it up into two smaller meals of 8-9 ounces. After 20 mins you may find you don't need the other 8 ounces. Also you won't stretch your stomach out as much. If you do find you are truly hungry--you can always have the second half later.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

        Thanks Ever,

Will try, I was just worried that the mayo will boost my carb intake above my limit so I try to limit the mayo.
The only hassle is that butter is very expensive here as margarine is used widely, will try to get hold of some today.
I stay away from margarine as it's mostly plastic anyway

I use mostly olive oil as a dressing, will look into that too, ty

        cheers

          Jill, tx for the reply

The fish is for tonight but I just added all the info for the day, i will cook something extra (meat wise) and keep some of the fish for lunch tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

Is there a "limit" to the number of eggs one can eat per day/week?
          Just wondering about that?

Not really, but after awhile they aren't so appealing! LOL

I have days where I have a couple for breakfast and then one sliced on a salad at lunch or a deviled egg for snack--doesn't seem to be a problem.

Thanks for the info Jill much appreciated.

BTW, I just realized that the George Forman Grill I use to cook all meats drains all the fat away, duh..., I suppose I better change that 'cos I'm loosing all the fats I need for this WOE to work, correct?

                        Re: Help please

I love my George Foreman Grill. All I do is add fat in the form of sauce (like homemade Hollandaise) to the meat I cook on it. It's really no different than when I cook outdoors on my barbecue grill or when I broil meats in my oven. Those cooking methods will "drain away the fat". And frankly, if you roast, sautee, braise or boil your meats, you'll need to scrape the fat out of the cooking pan and eat it, if you don't want to eat added fat.
