  • Sudden low energy from day 8

First week was great for me. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like the slave of food. My energy level was high, I did an one hour brisk walking everyday. Just when I was thinking how great this diet has been to me, from day 8, I experienced a sudden drop of energy. I felt weak and sleepy.
Is this normal? What should I do?
    Thanks

You may just be getting 'induction flu' a little late. Many people experience tiredness/sleepiness, pain headache and other symptoms during induction (I think it is usually around day 3...but I'm not sure). If it is induction flu, it should pass in a few days.

How many calories are you consuming?

How many net carbs? And how many of your net carbs are coming from vegetables?

Are about 60-70% of your calories coming from fat?

How much water are you drinking?

Are you drinking anything else than water (pure water, I mean... not tea, coffee, etc.)?

Feeling "weak and sleepy" can be a symptom of low blood sugar (caused by undereating).

It is also possible that you are losing electrolytes too fast. If the latter is what happens, then a few cups of broth (preferably homemade... or, if store-bought, it should not be low sodium, nor should it contain non-Induction ingredients) will probably help; you can try this unless you are sensitive to salt. Avocado is rich in potassium, so it might help as well.

And I hope you are taking a good vitamin and mineral supplement, as Dr. Atkins recommended.

Sometimes you need to up your carbs by just a little bit. Are you eating your induction legal veggies? They're a great source of healthy carbs.
